You and you lad put me to shame, I'm there having kittens at the thought of my sills for MOT time.

It'll be worth it one day, I keep telling myself (and the wife) :)
More sunshine today and a few more hours on the latest welds.
Cleaned up the area behind the headlight and sprayed up with satin black. Seam sealed the welds too after it all had a good dose of rust cure

Then some more underseal over the whole lot :sly

Body mount area now totally cured and solid, beauty :D

Now then off to the other side :doh

Not as bad this side and just a small patch needed :clap

Just got to get another washer bottle now as the captive bolts in mine aren't any more
Onwards and upwards

Good job:thumb2. Hoping to get my welder up and running tomorrow so I can get started on mine.

dont worry about the sills.. you will be fine and once the sills are done they can not be a lot left to do..

Well what do you know ? The other side is worse :doh
So another cereal packet in hand I better make some more truck

Cut some more steel and bent it over my Nissan shaped knee :lol
This is under the battery tray area, I guess many years of acid spills ? There are just so many bloody holes in the body work for assorted screws and plastic fittings, all helping the rust get a hold

Front bit cut and ready to persuade into place. This is to join the front body mount to the rest of the truck :lol

From the front it'll be luvly :D

Now if I can just avoid the wife for a few more hours I'll have another chunk of truck all strong again :sly

Laters

Front and rear winch bumpers went off for powder coating today :sly

Top day at the office today :D A few showers went through and cleared by half ten :clap
So welder out, wind break up and ker ching, first plate in :)

Here's the awkward curvy bit up under the battery tray

Looking down from the inside below battery tray, I'll cut an overlayer in a bit ;)

Found this fracture that I think came from a bad landing I had years back. The truck actually got written off but I hammered it straight ish again but this has rotted and split.

Have that :sly Note the lovely welding on the left, that's my boys. the rest of it I got a slap for as the boy caught me weldering without permission lol

Over plate done and welded to the battery tray and inner wing. That'll do nicely :naughty

As we were on a roll by now I decided to get me another 10mm of clearance for the 35s Cut back the rock slider a bit and the floor pan some more. Then welded in another little infill

Inner wing N/S all wire brushed off and rust cure applied.

Seam sealer going on

and on.............

At last we're back to black

Inner wing all done too :)

and the last bit today before the rain came back in was the leading edge of n/s rockslider :clap

Flippin well pleased today, and hope to keep up the pace now :naughty

Getting there mate, don't forget to tell me when you try it on a rolling road.

I've also remembered my hatred for bodywork welding!

Tell me about it , you think you're going along nice n tidy and plop :doh Argh another blow out
We've got a few holes under driver seat area to hit next as they're close to body mount .
I'll keep you posted anyway mate :thumbs

dunno where this project is goin mate.

if your planning to sell. who is it going to appeal too:nenau
personaly I would be scared to buy it looking at these pics. looks like its stood for years.

most peeps with money for an off roader will buy summat with sas on front.
does it have a lokka fitted?
there you go I give you 800 for the bumpers winch and front lokka diff.

is all the work you are doing worth wot you are going to get for it?
esspecialy after stinkas 1k give away?

I would give you 500 quid for the bumpers and winch you may only get 1k after all the work is done for all of it
just a thought

Oh I know, don't worry though I'm not doing this to turn a profit :lol
I said before this is much to keep my son in college money as it is for me to completely finish a project.
We'll be having a magazine spread on it if the rolling road figures are ok :sly
Lokka will be fitted and prove that SAS is pointless :thumbs

I let you do all the work and give you 1200 for it lol.
look forward to seein you again mate :thumbs

I think makeitfit really just wants to get old pearl back running right so he can have a dam good play in it until it finds a new home before he has to start modding & driving a fatty trol:thumbs

Had a bit more time today so decided to clean up the wings ready for refitting.
Now here's another rust starter for you to worry about. On the back of the wing are some sort of rubberised sticky pads. I guess they make it sound less tinny :nenau Anyway, that's where this one has started it's rust crop

So I've scraped that off and applied the wire brush on my grinder to clean things up :D
Here's the end result with rust cure applied.

Wire brushed all the old mud out from in the cracks and then undersealed and got ALL of it on the wing :lol

All the threads cleaned up on the inner wing and refit the wing again

That's better. Just need to make up a little bracket to stop the bottom flapping about next. Then refit the plastics.

Pete both your and Fez's project threads are awesome, loving seeing everything coming on :thumb2

And your lad's welding is mindblowingly good
