Very nice :)

this thread reminds me of the day I missed the deal of a century. Turbo'ed swb patrol 4.2 front and rear ARB air lockers. Kitted out with expedition equipment, the lot.

It was selling fairly local, I never asked what price he was selling for as I had assumed he would want too much for it but it turned out he wanted to sell to someone who would continue to love driving it. Think he sold it for 3k!! still kicking myself now.

Is yours still on hold Fez until you can get back on it?

Get a turbo on it Rob that's what it needs :D

In fact, turbo kit including intercooler, full 3 inch exhaust system, and front locker then you're sorted ha ha!

:lol :lol :lol

What else can he do with it :nenau Put an air freshener in ever now and again? It's already been modded to near almost perfection. I think he's just going to jump in and enjoy it for a bit but no doubt some new stuff will be fitted to it somewhere down the line.

We have to buffer the thread out somehow

Oh there's always a list bro! :thumbs :sly

She's had a very (very!) good start but I do have a few mods I want to do immediately/as soon as funds allow.

1. Refit the towbar. Daemo had to remove it as it shares bolt holes with the bumper. Just needs some thick washers to space the mounts out a tad. Also want to do see if I can move the trailer socket into the steel bumper so that all I have to do take out 6 bolts to remove the towbar (it's a bit like the Terrano towbars).

2. Got some unistrut roof bars to fit for mounting the hi-lift on the roof (got some mounts to bolt to the unistrut).

3. There's no rear fog light fitted, I imagine there must have been one fitted for importing the Trol but it's since been removed. 50/50 it might make it through the next MOT without it as it presumably managed up to now but I think I'll convert the offside reverse light into one (as there is a reverse light each side) rather than fit a seperate one.

4. Fit a stereo (the one Daemo had fitted stopped working and wasn't replaced).

5. The 24v to 12v reducer for running the 12v accessories is pretty beefy which is good as you can run plenty stuff off it but if you're leaving the Trol for more than 24hrs you run the risk of draining the batteries unless you take the inline fuse out. Solution is either to fit a switch or, a better idea, fit a relay off the ignition so the reducer only connects to the battery when she's running.

6. Need to pick up and fit a synthetic rope for the winch, just looks naked without!

7. Fit a drop down table to the larger barn door.

8. Put a mushroom head on the snorkel.

9. The runners for the rear sliding windows have seen better days (they sit inside the rubbers) so I want to fit solid side windows (get them from Europe).

Slightly further in the future mods, in no particular order!

-Lokka for the front axle (meant to compliment the Y60 rear lsd nicely)

-Rear swing away for the spare (bumper makers sell one that bolts right into pre-made captive nuts in the bumper). They also sell a jerry can holder that bolts into the opposite side :sly

-Factory fuel tank on the early Safari is 80l vs the 95l tank fitted to later ones. 95l tank from a Y60 is a straight swap but I've seen some nice new HD 98l and even larger expedition ones I might fit instead.

-Aftermarket turbo is a definite option and relatively easy to fit by all accounts.

- Bigger zorst! :naughty

- Fit some new front seats.

I'm sure the list will continue to grow...

Our Bumpers come from the same place... Its Possible that the Hi-Lift jacking points are the same. You could go the same route as me for the foggies.

Fits like a glove.

As a bonus, if you want to use the jacking point, leave the wires a tad longer and the light unclips very nicely! :thumb2

Man!!!!!!!! Thats an expensive looking list righy there Rob, cant wait to watch this thread unfold.

I love the sound of everything you're going to do apart from 1 thing!!!, why the mushroom head on the snorkel :(

Shall I mod this thread for you bro and put some of the pictures in from your trip back with it as the first post?

Also very impressed with how much stuff is out there for the Patrol off the shelf, I wish the Terrano had this much off the shelf kit availible for it.

As you've seen much of what people have fitted has been fabricated by them or others due to being so hard to get stuff

Get those bolts on the recovery point bases swapped Jay for some stainless :sly

I don't think stainless bolts are a good idea as they're not as strong .

Just prefer the mushroom heads bud :nenau

If you could do that bro that'd be great :)

Meant to say, Daemo did stick a less beefy reducer in with the spares for swapping out the big one (less parasitic drain) but I'd rather fit a relay for the big one.

Yeh I thought about doing it that way bud and I like the idea but I reckon I'll just mod a reverse light for now and leave the bumper free of lights.

One more thing to add to the list!

Daemo chucked in a set of Y61 calipers, need reconditioned but will give me a brake upgrade once fitted :thumbs

Hey Rob, check out Big Red for your caliper components.
Prices aren't bad and you can buy just the bits you need.:thumb2

70 amp relay, guess it is some sort of glow plug timer bypass, cannot think of any other item that uses that sort of power, Rick

The relay amp capacity is a bit of a red herring tbh as there's a smaller capacity fuse before the relay (didn't think about that before I ordered it although once you're at 24v they're all a similar price) the main hint is that it's on the 24v feed

She does have a glowpluy timer bypass already fitted. This mod was on another high current component coming off the 24v line but with a resulting beefy parasitic drain if it's left connected.
