The saga continues, my new Numax CX31MF arrived today, but it doesn't have the promised ribs at the base for clamping. I called back and was told neither the NUMAX or the LUCAS do! and the salesman was wrong! :doh

They recommend this one, which is actually a better buy as it is the original size and even more AH at 113 and still 1000cca, Numax CXV30MF

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Numax-CXV...ervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item53eecc8add

it is also a lot more expensive  After some negotiation they have promised to collect the other one and supply me this newer model for the same price before 4 p.m. tomorrow.

I will let you know how it goes!

got the new battery fitted now, a Numax CVX 30 HMF

It uses the original battery clamp and is the same height and width as the original and only 20mm longer, so it is a direct replacement!

113AH and 1000 cca :thumb2

if it is flared at the bottom like on the picture, then it will be perfect. it's the one I wanted originally.

Let us know how you get on with that battery, I am thinking of getting a couple of 86 Ah ones for the boat.

They look like they will take a 70% deep cycle, ideal for the boat, as at this discharge they're said to do 500 cycles.

As far as I am aware the Lucas are the same as the Numax.

Best regards,

Rustic

have a look at the plates, if they are thin like 2 to 3 mm then they will not survive 70% discharge for very long, if however they are 6 to 8mm or more then they will be fine, Rick

Thanks for the advice,
Well, I'm not sure the supplier will let me loose with a hack saw, is there another way to look at the plates, bearing in mind this is a maintenance free battery?

if it is maintenance free it is a start battery, a true deep cycle battery will use water which needs to be replaced, so will have removable caps, Rick

Battery

So, are we all agreed the CXVXV31MF LEISURE BATTERY is a suitable replacement, even though it needs a bracket over top to hold it in place?

Only my battery has started playing up and I have to Jump off my wifes Fiesta to start the Mav!

There is a Numax that is slightly smaller, 750cca 105ah, that is perfect size and uses original hold down. I posted a link in this thread to the one I got. Only single poles, so if you got a winch and loadsa lights might be better with XV31 which has double poles.

edit: see below

This one is the Numax. Mine is a Lucas. Made by same people

Be aware that leisure batteries quote Marine cranking amps, so these figures are often higher than CCA so make sure you know which one you are comparing.

There you, even more confused now!

So, can someone explain how you get a 110ah battery with 1000cca, then a 115ah battery with only 750cca? Please??????

CCA (cold cranking amps) is what a battery can deliver short term the more plates in a cell = higher CCA so for a given physical size the thinner the plates the more CCA, but the Ah capacity will stay much the same given a similar size, do not think I explained that too well but you get my drift, Rick
