Depending on if that includes the terminals or not that may be much too tall.. As I said in my post, 20cm is about the highest you can go at the front.

I've got a Numax XV31MF battery in my Terrano. I have a newer, square headlight Terrano an X reg and it fits fine. It's a tight fit, but goes in none the less.
Just taken these pictures as proof;

the danger of course is if the terminals could possibly short against the bonnet

Thanks for that!

Big and Daft - what clamps you battery down? as it is in danger of sliding into the pulley if it's not clamped!

there is insulation on the positive, and I can always stick a bit of rubber on the inside of the bonnet with trim tape us to be on the safe side, and a cap on the unused terminals :thumb2

Here you go Plank sorry about the protective coating :lol

I've been told I'll be lucky to get two years from a battery over here, apparently the heat kills them, so I'm thinking myself lucky I got nearly 3 years out of the last one!

I am not the most organised person, so I tape the receipt (in a bag) to the side of the new battery, and write the purchase date on the top with a paint pen :thumb2

OBSERVATION.
I can see a couple of wires connected directly to the battery with no fuse protection. These go over checker plate that has hard sharp edges, which in time will cut through the insulation of the wire, and a short circuit could make those wires turn red hot and molten copper everywhere, which could cause a fire.
Some inline fuses are needed ASAP.:thumbs

Snap, that's what I do.

I have no specific details on vehicle start batteries or the conditions under the bonnet in high ambient temperatures, but my traction bats at home (whole half ton of them) are best at 30 deg C, so have them in 2 inch polyurethane insulated box all round with a heater in the bottom for the winter, I struggle to keep them warm in the winter even at high charge rates, oh and they do drink water, at least a gallon a month, summer more, but well within there design rating, Rick
