Pics to follow if needed, but the injector socket has space in the side for the injector wire to slip through yes? Well, the wire has the plug on the end, and the plug won't go through the actual socket so that I can feed the wire through the side. I'll post a pic in a few hours!!!

ok, this is the pic:

so how do i make it fit? Do I take the wires out of the brown connector?

Will that grey clip thing slide out? might need to use a fine screw driver or something to release a locking clip. Will that make it fit the socket?

Good Luck

DAMN DAMN DAMN.

The DAMN socket WONT FIT.

getting a bit tired of this. OK, so, the new injector socket i have, heres the deal. The brown plug at th eend of the wire will not fit through the socket. no way. not even after removing the grey clip. arrrggghhh. seriously i could cry, nothing, i say NOTHING is going right.

deep breath.

I am going to now have to drive all the way to Wakefield to get a refund on the part i bought from them last week, which was too big. They say they sell a 22mm one, but of course no idea yet it it will allow me to feed the wire through.

please tell me I am missing something really obvious and simple here? I cant see how i would remove the wire from the injector, thats silly, because then how the hell would i get th eold on out? The brown plug wont disconnect from the wires, so all I can see is quite simply the socket, again, is wrong!

ahh...its all fun and games. its all fun and games. I do enjoy this stuff, but as its a steep learning curve for me it can get frustrating.

The only thing I can see with this socket is that it needs to be open ended. I saw soem last week, basically the end that fits over the injector has one open end, in line with the open side, so you would simply slip the wire through, without having to feed it through the end, if that makes sense.

has ANYONE else had to fit one of these?

:(

another day wasted, i can see it now.

Can you take your old socket back this morning and take your injector with you and say this is what it has to fit!!!! Where in Wakey have you been going?
I'll be in Wakey on Thursday can I do anything for you?

Jim

Well I am there now, had a good chat with them and showed then the injector. It's really odd, they don't list a part that will fit?!! Basically the plug is bigger than the injector, so no way it will fit through a 22mm diameter hole, seems I need something same config, with a window that goes to the end or grind out a bit, but that'll weaken the socket! I can't believe it...:(

Will a box spanner fit.

no mate, the injector has the wire coming out of it, and the plug on the end. The plug is bigger in diameter than the injectors fixing, i.e. the plug wont go through the socket hole!

well, i just scoured the internet, and I cant find a single socket tool that will fit my injector. I dont get it, I really dont.

If the "brown" plug where out of the way would the wires thread through?
Will the connections come out of the "brown" plug?
They may just be clipped in to the plastic body, a fiddly job but.....

Ok, more info. Even if the brown plug wasn't there, the socket still wouldn't fit. You see, on the injector there us a plate that fixes the wire, this plate sticks out furthur than the injector fixing, so the socket won't even go over that. Am I right in thinking that the injector comes aprt into two perhaps?

Cheers mate, appreciate that, it does certainly look specialised doesnt it, just my luck! I will also get in touch with some garages also!

Isn't there some kind of Forum or Web Site called Diesel Bob, I've heard that name mentioned loads of times before. It's a shame we can't get hold of Toolbox, chances are he may have some idea's.

i will ask him tomorrow:) he like to be pestered on a sunday:thumb2 ware would the fun be if every thing was straight forward!!!!!! hmm life may be a little less stressful.....:)

i checked the diesel bob website, but i am not sure how they could help, cant see any links for tools etc!

The thing is, this baffles me. There are thousands of these cars about, surely there are the tools available to do the job? I certainly wont go to a main dealer, no way, i cant afford that! But I have ready loads of posts by people who have done the job themselves, is it that those people all had the 27MM sockets, but even if they did, how did they get past the problem of the wire fitment on the injector!???!!!

This is why I am wondering the the injector unscrews in the middle perhaps?
