Hello Iandouglas,
I did wonder after seeing the news tonight with all that water about up that way.

Its a real shame as i think we all were looking forward to it , But it is better to be safe than sorry as we all use our motors for work as well as pleasure.

As well as what you have said i also think if we are seen cutting up the lanes by the locals and walkers with the clubs name displayed on our vehicles its not the best impression we can give.

We will be better saving it for a more suitable time and enjoying the day out not regretting it.

Thanks for letting us know early.

Best wishes, Mav.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for letting us know as soon as possible.

I can't say I'm not disappointed but I fully understand the reasons and I'm already looking forward to the rearranged trip!

By way of a "thankyou" for the work you've done so far I'm going to click the CIN button and send a donation.

All the best,

Ian.

Dinky and I were out yesterday, dd a fair few of the lanes the club usually does down there and didn't really have any trouble or do anymore damage than we would in the summer. Dinky had to back up and try again at one point but I think he was just ebing a bit too tentative as others all got up ok. Have a word with John, see what he thought.

Some parts of N wales have had a beating, was planning to get there soon but it has been put off until lanes have a chance to dry up a bit.

any green lanes planned

HI SIMON.
IT WAS DINKY WHO SENT ME A PM TONIGHT.
TELLING ME THAT IN HIS OPINION I SHOULD CANCEL FOR A WEEK.
I KNOW JOHN WELL ENOUGH TO TRUST HIS JUDGMENT .

HE BASED HIS OPINION ON THE WEEKEND HE WAS OUT WITH YOU.
PLEASE REMEMBER WE WOULD HAVE HAD SOME NEW TO OFF ROAD .
WITH STANDARD TRUCKS , ROAD TYRES. ECT.
I WILL NOT RISK THEM AND THERE TRUCKS IN THESE CONDITIONS.
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON .

Such a shame, but never mind there are other days and Derbyshire is not going anywhere  (and I can still see out of my window)

I was out on saturday night, and it was very wet and slippy but the ground was still very firm in places, although the normal lanes that suffer with rain were really washed out, but as we all know Derbyshire weather and conditions can change by the hour, and saturday you got out to brew up and by the time you had it was raining again, sideways at times, was still a good night!!

.. on that note a Congratulations to 4x4xFord who did Stanage going down, no problems, no hang-ups, no damage -welldone- ..

I'm sure when its re-planned it will be a great day out.. keep me informed and a passenger seat open

Hi Ian, its a shame i know but better safe than SORRY. One good thing Tom can play football now. With changing the date some more people may be able to come. I was really looking forward to the sausages.
Gordon

never mind everybody .. keep your eyes peeled maybe the next event could be a similar day to the beginers day, get out and see what your trucks can do..

BAD NEWS THE DAYS LANING HAS BEEN POSTPONED . ALL THIS RAIN HAS CAUSED WASHOUTS ON A LOT OF THE LANES WE WERE GOING TO DRIVE ,OTHERS ARE SO SLIPPERY TRUCKS WITH STANDARD OR A/T WOULD HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS DRIVING THEM. THE LANES ARE WET THROUGH GETTING STUCK IS A REAL POSSIBILITY. WITH POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO YOUR TRUCKS.

Yes - and probable damage to the lanes too. Congratulations on what, to me, seems to be a very sensible decision.

Cheers
Andrew

Thanks all for supporting Ian’s decision to postpone this one for a couple of weeks,

Mav.

Derbyshire might not be going anywhere - but many of the lanes might be - there are plans afoot to TRO 20 lanes in Derbyshire :-(

Cheers

Yes I am aware of this.. But I'm sure there are some more out there that are available to us.. they just need to be researched and driven / walked before the club is taken out on them.

Such a shame but that's the nature of the game.. lanes will open and close as the pen pushers see fit ... maybe if you anyone has time pettitions should be raised etc.. and something done about the closure.. pointing out that if we do happen to accidentaly damage lanes we repair and maintain best we can... and they are there to be used as legal roads not footpaths which once overgroan thats all they become.

One of the ones I went down at the weekend is under threat, it was a RUPP but has a DMMO application in from early enough to protect the vehicular rights for now. TBH it's a bit on the narrow side, got down in a frontera so a T2/Mav would be fine but anything bigger than the frontera wouldn't make it unless it was completely cleared of trees down both sides and even then it would probably be too narrow for something like a patrol between the walls, nice to do for a change though.

PDVUG (Peak and Dukeries Vehicle User Group) are coordinating a response to these threats - but they are likely to need documented user evidence from folks who have driven those lane - i.e. signed Derbyshire CC user evidence forms. Expect me to post more about this in the near future ..............

Hey, don't know about that, have had more problems with the Nissan engine so far !!!!!!!!!!!

Oh hell, that's it, am asking for it now......what's going to break first......

i do miss the comfort and refinement of the MISTRAL THOUGH

Only got Disco cos I thought would be easier to lift and fix/get bits for and cheaper than Nissan bits for when I break things off roading etc. It's all Cameramans fault.
