Gearbox oil INSIDE sounds like he became ''inverted''

Give that boy a jelly bean!

Yes, just as the day was drawing to a close and it was all looking uneventful, Pete thoroughly outdid himself!......

He is, but as for his pride, well actually I think he secretly craves the attention if you ask me... :augie

But good question Willow....there were just the two of us and 80 feet of rope...miles from help. But Team Wales are nothing if not resourceful (well apart from Extreme who spent the day at home with his stamp collection LOL).....

And you'll note that the truck is way over past the vertical so the CofG is as well..but schoolboy physics is a wonderful thing....we wrapped the rope around the tree and tied it off in two places on the trucks chassis....like so..

Mind you, that was after we'd wrapped the rope much higher around the tree having worked out that the previously low pulling angle was too inefficient...at this point we've managed to raise it enough to get a spare tyre and one of my nice new waffle boards under it to hold it....then, because I was skidding about after a few feet on the shale, it was a case of hols my truck on the brakes, jam a support underneath, reverse, shorten the rope and start again.....it took us about an hour and a half all told...

Besides the gear oil how's the rest of the car?

Just shows though you have to be careful.

Great pictures ,Paul, pity about Pete's rollover. Beginning to think having no green lanes in Ireland is a good thing.

The Redhead just accused us of being juvenile....who us? Surely not???

Anyway, nearly there...

and over she goes.....

If you told me an hour earlier that we'd have done this I'd have said no way...just shows what persistence, determination and a bit of thought can achieve...its a shame the day turned out the way it did, but what a helluva blast it was!

And finally a brew stop,as if nothing had happened.....mind you poor old Pete had to spend half an hour mopping up half a gallon of gearbox oil with the expedition kitchen roll supplied for just such eventualities! I just hope he managed to make it home, because we then drove 15 miles down to my house and had tea and cake in a very civilised manner!

Not a day I'll be forgetting in a hurry!

TEAM WALES ROCKS (and pushes, and pulls and drags, etc..., you get the picture...)...on day we'll have a proper run with nothing to distract us! How dull will that be????

PETE - all yours mate, hope you've got some normal photos for us? :clap:clap

I'm sure Pete will be the first to admit, he paid peanuts for the truck, and actually the damage is all superficial...a bit of panel beating and it will be right as rain, no need for an expensive job given what he does to it! ;)

In return we've had a terrific day (I feel guilty being so enthusiastic!!! Oh OK I don't!).....:naughty:lol:thumb2:thumbs
