I've traced it to underneath the drivers chair along the door and up to the kick panel to a yellow plug

Where does it go after that?

Air bag/SRS control unit is under center console, roughly underneath the armrest.

Checked that already bud thats where I started tracing from, I've even tried a different module from a scrapper James had

I'm desperately trying to find out why my airbag light is on, the reset method doesn't work for me either, I can't get ot into SRS diagnostic mode

Will ECUTalk with the consult cable clear the air bag light? The cabling as far as I can trace it looks fine :s

While I had the kick panel off I decide to check the MIL codes as well to see if any were stored and to my surprise I had 17 and 42 stored :S

17 - module coding plug circuit malfunction

42 - fuel temperature sensor incorrect signal

Codes have been cleared and have not re registered so fingers crossed but still got Air Bag light :(

check the steering wheel, there`s an air bag in there,
i had a fault with mine, and it was that
have you tried resetting by pressing the door light switch switch 6 times with the ignition on ?

I had air bag probs, none of the resets worked, took it to a diagnostic guy and after hooking up to his computer cured it for £20 so it seems some will reset on vehicle, and some will not, Rick

the SRS control unit tests all connected devices by passing a very short duration voltage pulse and subsequently measuring the current, if either short or open circuit it will register a fault.
The nominal resistance it expects to see from the air bags is 2 ohms, so it will not take much in the way of oxidisation on connectors etc to increase that to a fault condition.

No ECUt won't hack it for the airbags...

my opinion is , i really wouldn't be faffing about with airbags / wires

All that hapend on my 96 was I disconnected the wheel air bag and after reconnected it, but all of the methods to clear the light failed, only hooking to a computer sorted it, Rick

you posted a vid of a airbag detonation rick ..... but im fuffed if i can find it

I cannot find things either, these days seem to spend half my life looking for stuff, then I get pissed of and have a scotch, all is sorted then, till the following day when I cannot remember what I was looking for, :doh, Rick

Here's one from a few years ago that makes me cringe:

BANG ON THE MONEY!!!!!

Get that man a drink!!!!!!

Worked a treat if it comes back on I'll inspect from the steering wheel backwards :)

I'm absolutely amazed by the knowledge on this forum

It's verging on witchcraft :bow

How do you get this off from the steering wheel ?, I've tried the door trick and it seems to slow the flashing but not get rid of it, I had it in a garage today and they couldnt get rid of it either, came up with a module fault 71, so I'm going to start by removing the center console but if no joy there will look at the wheel if you can tell me how, thanks.

talk to rayf first as you may barking up the wrong tree, to get the bag from the steering wheel you need a tamper proof torx key, but to get to the connector it is just remove the covers on underside of wheel, but be very careful and a point of note when you unplug the connector on the air bag side shorts out so if you did an ohms test (which you must not do as it could set the bag off) it will be meaningless, if you are not sure leave well alone, to get the 71 code there is a definite problem, ray I am sure is your man, Rick
