Flat as a result of trying to start ? If not you'll struggle to get enough spin to get enough compression to get enough bang to get enough fun in the mud:D
Before you fit the new starter, it's worth loading the end cap with grease and also where the wire goes into the casing. Helps keep a bit more water out. I also put some on me flange :lol

Na, I think the battery has gone flat as I think the alternator belt is loose when wet.
Also think it was drawing current when I was trying to start it with just a click yesterday.

Any tips on fitting the starter, it looks like a tight area?

Yes it is an arse of a job but really only takes you about an hour all in. I assume you've still got all that plastic inner arch stuff in the way:doh
Jack up de front, bin the wheel and the plastic innner arch. Then undo the starter wires and undo the top bolt first, IT IS A BITCH . I've found a short ring spanner the best and you'll get about one flat at a time turn:(
Then the bottom bolt's straight forward.
Pull starter UP and out through the engine bay.
Reverse for the new one.But first clean up the bolts so they'll go in nice n easy. In fact I cut down my top bolt to reduce the length of time it takes to screw the bugger in:naughty
Bottom bolt first then the top pain the butt one.
Then repair fingers with insulating tape, have a cup of tea, then go and start it as you please:D
Enjoy:cool:

New starter now fitted, Starts very well.

But when I turn like 1/4 each way from center theres a small knock noise each way. Feels like its comming from the ignition area. So will have to have a look.

it'll be ya breakline pipes, just need to bend them out the way, happened on mine when i changed the starter the other day

Had a look at they are nowhere near shaft.

It does it in the same position after a full revolution and does it on the way back. Clockwise or counter clockwise.

Doesn't sound serious, Just annoying.
