I think it depends on the turn out too, As if we only get 10 members then i think we can muck in together, If we get 20 then we may need a geni, Is 1.9kv nearly 2 k watts?. If it is, is that half a 3 kw kettle?.

i am up for that too as long as we can charge lesuire batteries up for lights at night etc
i too have an old van with no modern convieiences like showers

but regarding big genny i disagree with you plank .
the gennie ran till quite late in the night then turned off and if i recall you were the only one complaing on the last rally because it was not running through the night.

generaly speaking when electricity is offered as an option it is asssumed to be a constant supply? and if not wouldn't it be reasonable to clarify this in advance? Still brings me back to the point that the electricity is basically only for the marquee as do we really need it in a caravan in the day? Shower or no shaower in your caravan, would a generator make up for the lack of a shower?

with you too a point but i have never complained about anything at a rally, i have only been to two and stayed to the end off both!

Jace is right about kettle/tea urn but what is wrong with gas? does no one have a spare gas ring/burner and a big kettle? and it makes less noise than any generator.

Dave i am sure, several small 'suitcase' type generators running as and when needed by individual members ( or pairs of caravans a small telly is only about 150 watts) would be lass noise over all than one large one running most of the day, but again, I thought we were in a different field this time and niose was less of an issue?

SO on a positive note- LETS THINK GAS, what can we power by means other than electricity?

i have had an answer from wicksteed re genny they can help with discounted rates i have forwarded e mail to mav for conderation.
plank i actualy remember you coming to my tent complaing about the genny being switched off at night at stourport.

my main concern is the effective policing of a load of gennies ie making sure that they are all switched off as one would be easier to control.

we are according to wicksteed down in the caravan/camping field and will have an area to ourselves but by that statement there will be others pitching aswell.there is a vw club rally the same week where that is going i am not sure.

i have asked the question to wicksteed re portable gennies for each van and i am waiting on an answer will keep you informed

We will have to watch this as we have another post running about the Generator!!!!!.

Do i ask if Robobone asked about the leads and boxes here or in the other one ?????

Like i say, going to have to thin this thread out and delete some of the basic posts so i can get my head round this one.

See what i mean about hard work involved in a "basic rally" as the thread started off.

Hi Robobone sorry to hear about the dog. I know how it feels, I had to get one of my Labs put to sleep a couple of weeks after last years rally and the other ones on his last legs now.

I've not committed yet as I don't know if I'll be staying on the same rota, same shift or what

If things stay as they are we will be there.

So put me down for a maybe and I should know around April!!!!!!

I think its good this way as everyone sees the rally 'grow' and no hard work behind the scenes goes unrecognised or unappreciated.

Hello Alan,
I think we can collect after we arrive at Wicksteed as long as the members that say they are comming do turn up

The only reason we have collected a deposit other times is so that we have a true head count and totals.

The only thing is we will need to pay in bulk to get discounted wristbands.

I will be having a cheap, Well erned weekend away for around £10 per night, can i beat that anywhere, Dont think so.

I do know its also the cost of fuel for a lot of members.

Rally

Just been looking at wicksteds web sight and they seem to have avw camper van rally booked in on that date. what sort of things go on at the rally as i am new to club.

well mont its a get together its freindly we have meets in the marquee the kids all mix in together the adults have chats and its all in the name of fun its a fab weekend. theres a fun fair there and loads of swings and sliides to take kids on or just stay on camp and chat and mix but its up to you :lol:

Time off

Just got the time booked off for this this week.
On the campsites events calendar they have the VW campers down for these dates. How come they aint got us down and is it going to be a problem for us parking close to each other ? :?
