Hi guys, a friend of mine is thinking of buying s 2003 petrol maverick but said the abs light is on and the current owners have been told it’s a rear sensor, although they seem to think it’s in the axle somewhere rather than the brake hub.
Is this the case and is it an easy repair?

Cheers
Stephen

The rears are easy to do as the oil in the axle makes them easy to remove, just follow the wires along the chassis to the axle just behind the wheels, Rick

Hi rick, thanks for the reply
So are we right in believing the sensors are located in the axle and not on the back of the hub like most others.
What other things could be causing the light, any ideas?

Cheers
Stephen

They are on the axle just behind the back plate, I would pull the plugs and test the resistance and wiggle the wire as most times it is a broken wire rather than the sensor itself, the plugs are quite well forward on the chassis, Rick

I would be suspicious that such a relatively easy fix has not been done by the current owner.

Hi,

Is this Ford Maverick definitely the same as the Nissan Terrano ?
Not sure when Ford stopped selling the Terrano style version and changed to a different vehicle but still calling it a Maverick.

Hold up guys!!!

2003 Petrol Maverick? Are we sure this is an R20?

That will be the mazda tribute based one then.
