Honestly, I don't know. It ain't charging the battery, so I got it checked out at a garage and they said the alternator was the problem. Yes it has the vacuum pump attached. Been quoted £90 for rebuilding this one and I've seen them for between £110 and £150 new Cheers Mark

There's a guy in my town that specialises in alternators and starters and looking at his website and comparing other makes and models he's a lot cheaper than most. He states to be up to 70% cheaper. But only thing is he can't give me a price for an alternator until I have the oem part number...

Does anybody know the part number for an alternator for a terrano mistral 95 plate 2.7td? Taken mine off to get the part number and the labels missing. Can't get a quote from anyone because its a jap import and they need the part number. Cheers Mark

Your not wrong haha. I've just remembered that usually when I'm driving theres a tick every now and agin from the footwell. I presumed it was a relay and just doing what it does. But since this problem I haven't heard it anymore. Could there be a relay problem?

just double checked the fuses again and viewed the manual but still no joy. I've checked earths and made sure every connector is seated properly under the dash. What on earth is going on?

does anybody know where that connectors wiring comes out from the dash to where it wires up. I don't know if it goes directly in to the fuse box or if connects to something else.

Thanks for your help, but what is P28 and P29? I've just checked the connector block and there's no permanent 12v and when I switch the ignition on theres only one blue and white wire that has any power to it.

No not the illumination, the actual needles don't move. The back light illumination works, the speedo works, the battery and oil light works, the lights at the bottom work (o/d, beam, wd etc) The indicators work. The coil light (glow plug indicator) doesn't work, neither does the fuel gauge...

Just spent the last couple of hours checking the wiring, connectors, checked continuity in every fuse in the fusebox to make sure they were definately ok, checked continuity on the circuit map at the back of the clock, all thats fine aswell. So where am I going wrong? The bits that aren't...

done that, reseated connections, checked bulbs and give it a good belt, still no joy

You guys are gonna get sick of me soon. I have another problem with the terrano. As sad as it sounds I'm a stickler for everything working in a car. I can't stand if a bulb goes or if the heaters aren't up to scratch, if one lights dimmer than the other etc etc. So as the centre interior...

aw well i must of been dreaming, i was sure they used to work. thanks anyway

I'm almost sure they used to come on with the doors. Its never had a bulb in the middle one, and I've just put one in today because of the front ones not working.
