just double checked the fuses again and viewed the manual but still no joy. I've checked earths and made sure every connector is seated properly under the dash. What on earth is going on?

My late father always said

You guys are gonna get sick of me soon.

I have another problem with the terrano. As sad as it sounds I'm a stickler for everything working in a car. I can't stand if a bulb goes or if the heaters aren't up to scratch, if one lights dimmer than the other etc etc.

So as the centre interior light needed fixing I sorted that yesterday, and fitted a new heater thermostat, and pulled out the dash clock to see what faulty lights I had. Put it all together again and this morning realised the heater plug isn't lit, the rev counter, petrol gauge and temp gauge don't work now.

I've checked all the fuses, and the plugs in the back of the clock seem ok. So I don't know if I've done something while I had the clock out or when I fitted the thermostat.

Wish I'd leave the car alone somethimes, everytime I sort one thing, something worse happens on the next one.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Cheers Mark

Not sure how old you are but when I had my first four or five cars I was like you everything had to be perfect. I think its the bloke part of our Genes.

When I messed something up I would ask my Dad who was a time served apprentice with RR cars at to help me fix it. He was really good with electrical stuff!

He died about 18 years ago and one thing he used to say to me was- "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

Now at the grand old age of 62 I mostly take his advice as too often I have spent hours making something perfect only to find I have lost some other function.

That said sometimes I just have to fiddle to make that little adjustment to make everything perfect. Best of luck with your quest although I cant help you I share your frustration !

I usually find that the fault lies with something I have done or changed.

You need an uninstall programme to return to a previous good setup !!

Your not wrong haha.

I've just remembered that usually when I'm driving theres a tick every now and agin from the footwell. I presumed it was a relay and just doing what it does. But since this problem I haven't heard it anymore.

Could there be a relay problem?
