Terrano 2.7tdi (2004) LWB Rear propshaft annoyance!

I am with solarman change the rear differential oil, cost is low and it makes a huge difference (even my wife can tell !!). Symptoms are creaking and banging in reverse and to a lesser extent when turning going forwards at low speed. I seem to have to do mine every 25,000 miles or so, what...

    disengaging problems

If you have a bit of transmission wind up the torque between the front and rear prop shafts will hold the 4WD selector mechanism in 4WD. If on tarmac my solution is to back up a few feet to remove the wind up, the 4WD selector will then drop out and the light will go out. Same problem when...

    rear diff problem

Yep so did I. I now know the quantity of oil in the C200 is 1.3l which means I have enough in stock to do an oil change at the weekend as the LSD has started groaning and banging again.

    rear diff problem

If you have a 2005 vehicle you should have a C200 rear differential and not the earlier H233B (I am sure someone can confirm the types if I am wrong). The H233B requires 2.8l of LSD oil but the C200 requires far less around 1.5l of LSD oil if my memory serves me right I cannot find a capacity...

    Husqvarna Chainsaw

Best advice is go on a training course but failing that read the manual and there are two very good videos on youtube one from Husvarna and one from Stihl (bit american but info still valid) I suggest you spend an hour or so watching them then buy some PPE before using a 55. My Husqvarna 55...

Clunking sound when changing gear & accelerating

You might get away with a new Hardy Spcer joint at the moment but if you leave it damage the yokes will occure and then a new prop shaft will be needed.

    3 litre head and Sump

My 3.0 sump look a bit scabby last year so I took the plunge and removed the scabs, wire brushed the rest of the rust off and painted/waxed. I will repeat this year. Many year ago my father had a transit van (1600 petrol) that developed several rust holes on the sump. After removing the sump...

    Ho! No!Go!

Just check your brake lights are not on, brake lights ON = engine to tick-over on most drive by wire systems.

    Errrrrrrrrrrrrr

This might sound silly but check you brake light switch. When the brakes are applied you may find the engine is forced to idle where it will tick over smoothly. The switch is monitored on the 3.0 and on most modern engines so if a faulty throttle potentiometer is present giving a power demand...

    Errrrrrrrrrrrrr

On my 3.0 (on an 05 plate) similar fault was caused by rusted fuel pipes between tank and rear wheel arch allowing air into the diesel system. Cut back rusty pipes to forward of the rear wheel arch and replaced with rubber fuel pipes, problem sorted.

    Y61 03/04/05 Patrol Brochure?

I have a Nissan Patrol brochure and price list from 2005 :thumb2 No parking sensors listed for either the S or the SVE models as standard though they were an optional extra @ £325 inc VAT. Almost bought one new but ended up buying a Terrano 3.0 SE (manual gearbox) instead at a very good price...

can someone identify this plug and scoket

If the socket is wired correctly it will have 415Vrms between the pins i.e line to line and this will give you a high voltage single phase supply (no neutral). Ideal for large welders as the current is lower than the standard 240V mains. If you connect equipment requiring 240V to this socket the...

    reverse lights

Quick thought, it might just be worth checking the existing lens is clean inside and the bulb is not blackened. It does not take much to greatly reduce the light output of the reversing light. On my 05 model the reversing light works fine.

    Changing domestic rcd from a 16amp to a 32amp

If you fit 2 off 13A plugs then if one is not connected and the other is live the pins on the unconncted plug will become live and very dangerous. I have fitted and used a 16A blue type socket in my garage and fed it with a 16A type D MCB from the garage distribution board. The garage supply...

    which anti-virus?

Microsoft Security Essentials, free and does not hog the internet at start up. All my computers now boot up at least a minute faster that they used to.

    Coolant

May be Nissan OEM coolant as that is green, don't mix the colours they are not compatable as they have different corrosion inhibitors. If you change to red drain, flush and refill.

How do you test a Shottcky diode????

Just a thought, 30A X 0.35V = 10.5 watts of heat at full load so you will need to use a good heasink to keep the diode junction temperature (Tjmax) below 125°C (or 150°C depending on the junction type).
