it won't be the connector itself but the 'terminal' that's attached to the end of the wire which just clips into the plastic. i have just had a similar prob on a relay - the wire and terminal had corroded away it looked like the cable still went into the connector and looking from the other end...

what it says on the side o tyre is usually the max infaltion pressure the tyre will take, not what its supposed to be inflated to during normal running. manufact data should be used for normal driving, if towing/loaded up in boot again the manufacturer will make recomendations one way or other.:)
