Hi Guys,

After ecently fixing and rebuilding my outer sills, I want to see about these sun roof drains, I dont particularly want them draining back into my newly fixed sills, i think its bad design. Can anyone tell me where they run from and to, so I can attempt to either redirect, or dill a new drain hole into the outsill??

thanks!

look in the download section, for how to clean them out and the manul to see a pic of where the ends are..

mine discharges behind the front mudflaps, but i cleaned mine via the door shut behind the wing, pour water in and poked my air line in and blow the mud etc out, got jug of water and poured into drains and it pours out now from behind flaps. job done.:thumbs

ahh, FRONt mud flaps, I thought it was the rear, I will have another look because we didnt do anything with the front sill...

:confused:mine discharges via front and rear? i thought that the rear drain holes on the sunroof lead to another pipe coming out at the rear?
i do regular blast hose pipe in area around front mud flap to keep the crud away from front drain.

open your front door and if you look down at the very bottom of the A-pillar you'll see a cavity that should be empty and drain through the bottom of the sill - if it doesn't flush it out and poke the drain holes.

ahhh, perfect, thanks!

I have seen the drain for the sun roof.:clap

If you remove the drivers side plastic scuff plate, 4 plastic screws, shine a torch through one of the 4 holes you can just see the black pipe, that puts the water straight into the sill. You cannot hose out this area from behind the mud flap, as per the previous suggestion.

You can also remove the rear passenger scuff plate and do the same, interesting when looking for rust. Best when the work area is dark.

Looking in mine there is a very thin layer of this wax type product (Not waxoyl), with no signs of rust, even around the sun roof drain.
Thank goodness.

whats the scuff plate???
When you open the door there are plastic pieces on the top of the sill, ie before you get to the door seal, at least on my 95 Mav.
Regards, Rustic

and how do you get the water out of the sills ? drill a hole or three ?

If you look at the sills from the inside (ie the exhaust pipe side underneath), you will see several vertical channels that open at the bottom of the sill, about 20mm wide.
Plastic cable ties are good tools to clear them without scratching the paint.

cheers Rustic i know what you mean now, will have a look...!!
