Is your starter completly knackered? I took mine out, then took it apart and cleaned everything inside with wd40, also gave armature a light sand with some fine wet and dry. Put it together again, refitted and now works as good as new.:clap

Sorry, no pics but its pretty obvious what goes where when you open the motor up. But on hindsight pictures would have been useful to some of our less mechanically minded members . If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to advise .

Hi. I have a direct replacement K&N filter fitted in mine. Was around £35 on eBay. Revs much more freely now and a little torqueier.

I'm not gonna slag them off because I know nothing about them but as an ex BMW car owner (318i) I know they are not without their problems. I suggest you find a BMW forum and do a buyers guide search before taking the plunge.

Cleaning the MAF doesn't always work. That why I ended up replacing mine. 5 minutes changes them if you were able to borrow one to try.

Mine used to do a similar thing, not quite the same but it would drop to idle and not rev up properly. At that time I just cleaned the MAF, Bosch type, with some electrical contact cleaner. It went fine for a few months until the MAF finally died and the car just drove as if was only on 60%...

By my counting still £15 cheaper:thumb2
