I followed the soapy water suggestion, but the squeal came back as soon as the belt dried, so I guess just plain water wouldn't work :rolleyes: No matter, it won't be used over the weekend, except for a trip to the jetwash and back and then it's booked in for Tuesday anyway ;)

It was done miles away. Cost more in fuel to get there and back than taking it down the road and getting a new one put on

Will that fit my Terrano? If so I'll have one ;)

Ok, so did the soapy water test, noise all went away when I sprayed the belt. Found the receipt, was last done December 2012 :)

Me too! Mine's a filth pit inside at the moment from previous owners. Only picked it up this week and not had time to do anything with it yet. Have to wash my hands every time I get out of it :hmh Did you find anything to clean your interior plastics? I have to do mine - not got oil on I don't...

Oh, yes I have the paperwork from when it was last done, but can't remember when. There's a mountain of receipts for stuff, so will have to dig it out again and see how long it's been ;)

Popped to local friendly garage down the road at lunchtime and they had a quick look at it. The belt is tight, all aligned nice and straight, looks like a fairly new belt too. He said pretty much what's been suggested here - said they could try the belt spray stuff they use to shut it up, but...

Further update: previous owner just said he replaced the belt and pulley when he got it so shouldn't really need doing again just yet. Advised I should spray the belt with WD40 and see if it goes away, otherwise it could be the pulley bearing. Does that sound about right? Is WD40 just a...

Just wondering, how urgent is this job? Am I better not to drive it until sorted?

Update: it's squealing all the time now :( I'm not familiar with this engine as yet, so all suggestions and help gratefully received. Will have to download the manual me thinks :)

Found out this evening when driving in the rain that I have a very squealy belt. Noise drops when engine revs drop. Didn't do it before it started raining, except a tiny bit when engine cold. Can anyone tell me which belt this may be and is this likely to be replacement or just tightening...

:thumb2 cool thanks. There's a bio place not a million miles away from home that has a pump and also sells containers. B100, EN14214 approved, so might pay them a visit. Do I have to change the fuel filter after first/second use of bio?
