Cleaning Interior Plastics

I've got some oily marks on my rear door plastics and a few other stains on the plastic trim panels that don't seem to want to come off and it's driving me crazy!!!!!

I've tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to bring them up clean, I've even resorted to using white spirits to remove oily fingerprints off the centre console armrest cubby hole thingy and all it's done is make it go a funny faded out white colour

What do you guys recommend?

Me too! Mine's a filth pit inside at the moment from previous owners. Only picked it up this week and not had time to do anything with it yet. Have to wash my hands every time I get out of it :hmh

Did you find anything to clean your interior plastics? I have to do mine - not got oil on I don't think, just seriously grimy.

I'm going to try a cream cleaner (Cif/Jif) type stuff as I used it on the light grey I had on the Mitsi interior and it worked a treat

I use a pump spray thingy called KH7 that's sold everywhere in Spain, seems to get everything off of anything without any adverse effects. I use it on interior plastics, upholstry, and carpets (my daughter picks up her gas bottles in my Terrano, which leaves rust marks on the boot carpet - makes them bump off).
I should imagine it's obtainable over here in the UK.

WD40 gets rid of sticky bits left by labels, so might help to degrease the plastic, but then you need to get rid of the oily WD40.:doh

Meths works well, but leaves white marks, try bumper cleaners too.

Armourall, in a spray bottle, works really well on plastic and vinyl.

DO NOT USE ACETONE, ie nail varnish remover, it dissolves plastic and will fog clear plastic.

Don't use paint thinners, although white spirit is often ok.

IF IN DOUBT... try the cleaner on another area, say on the inside of a panel, incase of reaction.

Failing that a bit of detergent and warm water with a cloth.
Don't use kitchen or loo roll as the cloth, as this tends to leave white deposits, this might be part of the problem.

I like to keep my motor clean and tidy too, and after 18 years of ownership, still looks very good to me.

The one sold as kitchen cleaner is known as quitagrasas, a Spanish term which translates as Grease Remover.
