    roof rack

For the canopy, rivet some awning track to the roof and get a piece of curtainsider material made up to what you want. Slide it into the track and hold it up with tent poles and guy ropes. Brass rope hole rivets for the tent poles to go into. You can buy tent poles exactly for this job.

    New car thoughts

For the record, Xtrails are crap! That £600 fuel saving has already gone on repairs and more besides. Owned it since November and have only done 700 miles in it, spent more time fixing it than driving it. Haven't seen it for 3 weeks cos I sent it to someone else to fix this time. Effing thing is...

    PLANK

Very much so. He was a very calming influence on the place. Never knew him, never chatted apart from on here but I am very saddened by his demise. I will miss him.

Massive Veg Haul - Advice Needed on ISO Tanks

Would have thought the smell would have told you, especially if there's 1000 litres of it spilt already.

Buying an X-Trail - what to look for

So have I, and if it stops breaking I might love mine too.

    What Are Xtrails Like?

I have an Xtrail. In my couple of months ownership I have done both front wheel bearings. This is at the professional end of DIY as a press is needed, luckily I have one or I would have had to pay for it to be done. Not a fun job anyway as various bits are seized in place. Now I cured those...

    Noisy front end?

This new T30 of mine seems to have an awful lot of road noise from the front. Thought it was probably a wheel bearing at first but not so sure. Also wondered if it was the tyres, Geolanders. Don't think it is though. Seems to be more central than from wheel bearing, so wondered if there's a...

    A small victory

I don't see what there is to brag about tbh.

    Insomniac Question...

It will most likely pull the car quite safely without doubling it. I can push a 1 ton car along a road all on my own and I'm not Superman. I wouldn't lift a 1.5 ton car with it but that is different.

Opinion - Digital or analogue gauge?

I would have thought the digital ones to be backlit and readable in any light. Nowt between them other than personal choice IMO.

    My Maverick

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281216243486 It's a decent enough truck. Not pristine but very useable. I have had it for 3 years I think and never let me down. Does everything it should. Mileage isn't listed as I keep forgetting to look. Guessing, it is somewhere around...

    Whistling sound over 60mph.

Mine whistles like mad through the gap between the mirror and the door. Drives me mad!

    Bumper removal

I found an awful lot of nasties when I took the front bumper off my last truck. About half an hour to get it off, two days of welding before i could put it back. Hope this helps :)

    My books, please read :-)

Some rare times and rare people back then. Some very good friends that are gone and missed. They were the days of Jonny Eagle cracking his tether chain like a whip and pushing nails through his cheeks. People and times that are long gone. Good luck with the book and thanks for bringing some of...
