I've been approached by a demolition company who are doing some work for a council. They have been told to demolish a factory that used to belong to a worldwide industrial catering company, they went bust and now the land is going to be used to develop housing.
They have called me via my webiste and told me that there are 2 ISO Tank Containers that are both 1/4 full of clean Vegetable Oil, they have approximated 1000 gallons in each, there was more in the 1 but some bright spark opened the valve and couldn't get it closed and spilled 1000ish litres all over the site.
The tanks are now sold for scrap metal and the demolition company need the oil draining from them sharpish!!!! I've been told I can take it for free and looking at the conversion it looks like I'll be removing just over 9000l of clean Veg Oil ALL FOR FREE , how often do you get £7000 worth of ANYTHING for free these days
However, when I rocked up tonight after hours when I'd finished work to take a look at the tanks, the Kemler Code on the side stated 30 - 1223 which I'm sure means Kerosene
Even if it is Kerosene inside I'm still on for a good 40-50p a litre for it, it would be strange if it is Kerosene as what would an Industrial Catering company need 46 tonnes of Kerosene for?
I didn't want to climb on top on my own in a rickety demolition site in the middle of nowhere so I need to go back in the day and take a peer inside from the top to establish just how much is in there.
There is a gauge on the side of the tank but the main needle shows 0% and there is another small guage that just says "K" next to it and that reads 1.9 do you know what that reading is for and would that gauge be accurate?
Any assistance would be great guys and I may be selling SVO very cheap if anyone is interested once I've collected it all
I've just been checking UN numbers and if it was Veg inside that 4 digit number should be either 1373 or 1386
