Playing up Briercliffe in the snow

Went out for a wee play last night on the Briercliffe back roads, was quite deep in places! Shame there was not another 4x4 with me though as I know an ace road that was over 1.5 feet deep but I wont risk it alone... Well I had fun! That last pic was taken from my car window, what...

any one think they could do this

I used to play with those, and still collect them!!! :D I know which trailer you mean too, the green and red one with floppy draw bar and 8 wheels :lol You want to buy a huge collection of obsolete ones?

    Terrano 4wd problem

Boring to be honest! I really enjoyed last year in the Mav, spent most of the time sideways in 2wd :D Permenent 4x4 and rear lsd is no fun, kick it out and it just pulls itself straight again, no matter what your on

    Terrano 4wd problem

Indeed! And exactly what I thought... :( Will be a heavy lump that!

any one think they could do this

Bloody amazing!!! Always had massive respect for the blokes that can get wagon & drags into tight spots, let alone that! I once tried reversing my mates articulated bale trailer into his farm yard, has one of those fifth wheel dollys and it absolutely baffled me :lol

    Free wheeling hubs advise

Yeah, but... i've learnt £150 is nothing, not a smidge of an expense compared to some when off-roading is your hobby. So to me cost dont come into it, reliability is worth ten times that amount! :thumb2 I like to know when I call on 4x4 its there! Thats why I dont like vaccum controlled...

    Free wheeling hubs advise

Just a few opinions of mine on some of the comments left above - CHEQUE FROM MILLNERS - I've never bought from them nor been paid by them at any point in my life. A member on THIS FORUM pointed out they keep them on the shelf, I personally have not looked in to other suppliers but i'm sure...

    Free wheeling hubs advise

Hope it dont happen at a time they are needed! Thats my point exactly, they cant be relied on!

    Free wheeling hubs advise

I dont understand why folk would advise otherwise! Permenent piece of mind and reliability... which in my mind when operating in difficult terrain that is exactly what is rquired! :thumb2

    Terrano 4wd problem

Well i'm no expert so have to be careful what I advise. But... unless Nissan have designed a fancy clever transfer box then it will work in the same way as the old 2wd Land rover type, 2wd Suzuki, 2wd Diahatsu... When you engage 4x4 it locks the centre diff thus providing drive to the front...

    Terrano 4wd problem

And the cheap quick fix for that is a good second hand transfer box! :thumb2
  15. Muckypup

    Terrano 4wd problem

Of course it has a centre diff!!! Its whats inside your transfer box! Normally on most 2 & 4 wheel drive off-roaders they are a very simple mechanism that locks to provide drive to the front wheels... Now i've never stripped a Nissan selectable transfer box but have Suzukis... and they behave...

    Free wheeling hubs advise

Bit of advise for all you owners that still have their standard free wheeling hubs fitted... BIN THEM AND BUY MANUALS! The sheer number of people on this forum that are having problems with them, plus I had issues twice, so did KBEKL plus they have failed on tons of other cars I know... they...

    Terrano 4wd problem

Definitely not your hubs mate! Ignore that one! If one wasnt working you'd have no drive to any of the front wheels (power to side with least resistance) Seems to me as Karl said that there is a problem with your transfer box. Take it to your ramp, stick it in 4x4 and drive it forward to...

    towing cars

My understanding... ropes on motorways are illegal, as are all a-frames as they exceed 750kgs and are unbraked. They become legal if you stick a driver in the drivers seat to press the brake pedal... As for rigid bars, perfectly legal as you have to have a driver steering and braking for them...
