Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

They say 100" wheelbase is the best for off-road use. Range Rover, Discovery and I think swb Troopers are 100". I also think LWB T2's are just over that. A lot of trials and comp safari blokes now use disco/rangey chassis exactly for that reason, but of course use majorly uprated axle...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

Have you read anything I put LOL I aint trying to argue... to quote my own words - "I aint bigging them up here, i'm just stating that the terrain I play in is far more suited to live axle vehicles" I aint a Land-Rover fan, have never owned one and probably wont... i'm stating facts about...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

Karl - removing the anti-roll bars still wont give you the cross articulation of a pair of coil sprung live axles, plus it will put the cv joints under enormous pressure and make the shafts run at too acute angles for them to cope especially if the suspension is lifted. Plus keep in mind every...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

Oh I agree! Landys are awful on road... They were designed to be utilitairian, where as the T2 a road car with occasional use on a wet field! Saying that have you driven a new Puma engined 90 on the road? I have and was quite impressed, but they are so unreliable they make the old ones look...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

PLANK - I'm sorry I still have to disagree! I dont know how much off road experience or the type of Terrain you are used to but bring any modified T2 you like to Briercliffe and a completely showroom standard Defender 90 and the Land-Rover would trounce the T2... no independant suspension car...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

Karl Karl Karl... tut tut tut, you dont half open yourself up to it at times :D You drive a standard long wheel base Trooper... and are trying to take the mickey out of other 4x4's off road abilities... Sorry did I mention you chose to drive a Trooper, for its off-road ability??? Ooooooops...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

Yeah i'd love a Landy but simply cannot afford the running costs... Biggest snobs you'll ever come accross too. Number of Land-Rover owners that have said "he'll never get that through there" or "that wont make it up there" at events i've lost count of... Love making them eat their words...

Daved - unfortunately not, only 15" & 16". Not many cheap options available in 17", best value at the moment for me seems to be the KL71s

    Flat spot comes and goes

Sounds similar to what my Mav was doing when the cat was blocked... but, it would take about ten mins for it to cool before it would run again whereas yours appears to be ok as soon as you re-start it

Nissan Mistral 1996 VIN and speedo probs

The chassis number is usually just the last 5 or 6 digits of the VIN number, but again thats for most manufacturers not 100% sure about Nissan as I dont deal in Nissan parts only British manufacturers ;)

Nissan Mistral 1996 VIN and speedo probs

Hmmmm... Every vehicle I have worked on with a ladder chassis has it stamped somewhere, but I wouldnt know where this is on a Mistral. Vintage Rolls-Royces have it stamped on the front of the right hand chassis rail. There will be a chassis plate... unless for some reason its been removed in...

mud terrain or all terrain for snow???

My G.C is terrible! I think its designed for much bigger wheels than what is supplied standard... When goiung through one of those speed checkers my speedo reads about 33/34mph but the speed sign states around 28mph! Wondered why folk were flying past me when my speedo is reading 70

I'd have loved one of those as a kid! :D

mud terrain or all terrain for snow???

A point most have missed so far... Its not the treads in the centre of the tyre that pull you through snow, its whats around the sides! A good set of A/T's such as BFG or their Kingpin copy (which i'm running a new set of on the G.C) have big side treads so when the centre treads fill with...
