    Brake pad change

Brake anti-noise shims I read the above, which relates to a question on a 2001 model, prior to replacing the pads on my T2 1998. I did the driver's side and there were no such shims. The pads had been rattling, but I think that was due to the rather feeble coiled spring things on top of the...

Rattle when traveling over bumpy roads

I'll have a look at that clamp, but I'm beginning to think it is the front off side brake caliper rattling. I had my daughter ride on the side steps while going down a farm track, ( they have their uses sometimes). She pinpionted the noise as coming from behind the centre of the front wheel. I...

Rattle when traveling over bumpy roads

Thanks for that Jim. I'm not sure where it's coming from. I've tried leaning out of the window to pinpoint it when moving, but no luck. Have to get back under and start shaking things. John

Rattle when traveling over bumpy roads

I've had this rattle for some time now.It happens when driving along bumpy sections of road. Sounds like someone rattling a pebble in an empty tin. It comes from the offside outer, low down, towards the front I think, but not certain. I replaced the front offside anti roll bar link, which had...

    Interior Light Problem

Thanks for the help. The adjustment appears to have worked, as the lights have not come on since. However I now have something that sounds like a canary tweeting at the back. I think it is the door rubbers actually making contact for once. I'll give them a rub over with Armoral or some such...

    Interior Light Problem

Have adjusted the door latch thing, but there wasn't much room for adjustment. What is the small bracket for just below it? John

    Interior Light Problem

I too have problems with interior lights, but in my case the light above the seats comes on when I accelerate and turn right away from junctions , also the back door light flickers on when traveling on rough ground. Is this two seperate problems or one, do you think? John

    Juddering steering wheel

Just a quick update on the situation. The bearings have been tightened up and this improved matters a bit, still juddering , but not as bad. i had the wheels balanced and the front were 165gramms and 140 out, which the tyre bloke said was a lot. Anyway , he balanced them up to zero reading but...

    Juddering steering wheel

I think I've seen something about it on the site, but I also have a manual, so should be ok. Thanks

    Juddering steering wheel

Have done what Rossco said , and there is play in both front wheel bearings, like it wobbles when pulled in the 12 o'clock / 6 o'clock position. John

    Juddering steering wheel

    Juddering steering wheel

Being new to the Terrano. I'm not sure how much movement there should be in the steering. On mine, when I get to about 50 or 60 MPH the steering wheel starts juddering from side to side, although the car still keeps going in the intended direction. It's not too bad under power, but when I...

GUNSONS EEZI-BLEED has anybody used one on Maverick/Terrano

I used the Eezi-bleed on my 1990 Patrol. One of the caps fitted OK and it worked well. In the instructions provided they say that ,if the caps provided do not fit, then to contact them and they mayhave others that they can supply. John

    Sticky accelerator and maf questions

I've managed to source a used accelerator/sensor unit for £50 from a breaker. Fitted it today, only takes 10 mins, and it works a treat, smooth as you like. I'll have a look at the old one in due course and see what's causing it to stick. My main suspicion is the plastic drum for the sensor...

    MIL Light Don't Work

I must concur with Terranokid re his preference for the older mechanical pumps etc, no ecus, mil lights etc. Who could have thought that a simple throttle cable could have been replaced by something so outrageously complex. If the throttle cable snapped , you knew it had, and replaced it for...

    Sticky accelerator and maf questions

I've squirted the maf sensor with electrical contact cleaner so that should be clean. Sprayed the throttle position sensor with wd40, but it is still sticky. If you try to ease off the accelerator qently you can feel the notchiness and then it sticks fully just before getting to idle position...

    Sticky accelerator and maf questions

Hello, My first question, probably of many:- My recently acquired terrano has a sticky accelerator pedal. I've read that if you spray the rotating barrel thingy at the top with wd40 it should loosen up. I have done this but it is still notchy, maybe not as bad as before, but not good. Someone...

    Just to say hello

Greetings, I have just joined the club having acquired a 1997 Terrano 2.7 SWB which is intended to replace my 1990 3 litre petrol patrol (now for sale). I got the Patrol to pull my daughter's horse trailer occassionally and it is a beautiful beast - but thirsty. So I got the Terrano hoping it...
