On the subject of changing from steel to synthetic, don't forget that the roller fairlead that normally gets fitted to a steel winch will snag and break a synthetic rope. You must use a smooth, fixed fairlead.

The club ones are a standard size and colour. They are good if the car is a dark colour. I have them on either side of my 'trol. I got some others (not club related) made by this guy http://www.asigns.co.uk/vehicle.html. He makes to order, any colour and any size. They were next day and good price.
