I am sure this has been asked countless times but I need a new tyre
Locally I have been quoted around £75 standard tyres? is this price kosher or did they see me comming?.

Flippin' bargain :D for me anyway. What size and type are you after other wise it's a bit guess work :thumbs

It all depends on the size and make. If you are looking for a specific tyre to match the rest, you may have to pay more. I used to check on Blackcircles on the web for a starting price. For standard road tyres they were good. £75 inc valve, balancing and the dreaded VAT for a good make sounds about right.

As I am sure you are aware, in this area there are so many tyre fitters the competition is high. The times I need standard tyres I search the internet for the cheapest and then take this to a fitter and ask them to match it. So far it has worked every time.

I have just recently bought a set of Mud BFG's and the cheapest place I could get these was again on the internet, at http://www.oponeo.co.uk/

They came in from Germany, but arrived by courier on my doorstep 3 days after I ordered them. £10 each for fitting, balancing and new valves to my local Kosovan tyre fitters and away I went. £20 each cheaper than the next best I could find. :clap

Could be worth trying them for standard road tyres

It depends on what size you have fitted ie 15, 16 or 17" my 17's cost £102 a corner:doh

Standard size I think,the guys said 215-80-15 I think

Internet price seems around £65 so by time I have paid for fitting I break even, I think I will go with one of the local blokes, at least I can talk to them if there is a problem
Thanks for the feedback

I bought a pair of 17" Goodyears to match tyres the truck already had, they were 2nd hand with 6/7mm tread from e.bay.
Think I paid £95 delivered & fitted them myself.

Just paid 87£ (117€) a corner for 235/75 R15 Toyo Open Country A/T, placing and balancing included. In Belgium, I should add :)

Brand new tyres.
