    slow and sticking electric window

I use the el cheapo car plastic shine stuff from places like the £1 shops - they are silicone but much cheaper than if you go for something labelled Silicone Spray.

    Sound job!!

    which air filter?

I fitted a K&N a couple of years ago to my pre-intercooler T2, definitely gives a tad more oomph at the expense of marginally more induction roar. Took it out last spring to clean and oil it (very dusty conditions here in southern Spain), wouldn't consider going back to a paper one.

No power between 1 and 2 thousand revs

You can get yourself a meter from Screwfix from about £4, or from Maplin for not much more - essential piece of kit for any electrical diagnoses!

    Power Steering Fluid change

I wasn't replacing my p/s fluid when I added the Molyslip, just trying to lighten the very heavy steering a tad, so I emptied the reservoir with a plastic syringe thingy, added the Molysip then topped up the reservoir to the right level. It mixes itself through.

    Side step U bolt needed

Probably a good idea Rustic, there are flat and lock washers under all four nuts, the back end of the studs are burred over to prevent the nuts coming off, but an extra nut on the fronts would be belt & braces, I'll do that today (luckily I brought over a bag of assorted s/s nuts to Spain this...

    Power Steering Fluid change

Won't cause any harm, it's recommended by Molyslip. It comes in a 50ml bottle and is sold as Molyslip Power Steering Additive - I got it through eBay.

    Power Steering Fluid change

When I did mine I added 50ml of Molyslip, made the steering quite a bit lighter.

    Side step U bolt needed

I don't think I will get anything off the shelf, these brackets are around 8" across - however, I have followed up on cncfabs and jims.terrano suggestion of using 2 pieces of 8mm threaded bar with a 6mm steel plate, hopefully been promised the use of a vice to cut down and drill the steel plate...

Side steps have their uses, so reconsider..

Don't know whether mine would take that amount of weight!

    Side step U bolt needed

Right! Got me metre length of 8mm bar and a 6mm thick angle bracket which I plan to straighten and cut to the required length, now all I need is someone with a vice - ho hum!

    Side step U bolt needed

Now that's a good idea - nice one Jim

    Side step U bolt needed

Probably quite feasible but for the fact that we are looking after someones' house in Spain and have no access to a vice, plus all my taps and dies are back in England. I'll have a look round for some 8mm threaded bar in the local ironmongers and see if I can find some way of bending it...

    Side step U bolt needed

The sidesteps (original) on my 1994 T2 are retained by two large U bolts which go around the chassis - I've just sheared one:eek: Does anyone have one they would be willing to sell me (please don't tell me sidesteps are gay, my T2 is my everyday transport when in Spain and with 'er indoors...

    New cv joint rubber boot

Just had a new n/s boot fitted on the drive shaft here in Spain (proper job, not the "zip" type) - €48! That's around £42. Hour and a half labour at €24 an hour and €12 for the boot, that seems remarkably cheap to me. Anyone have any idea how much that would cost in the UK?
