    r.i.p. emily

Not a good day for you Pete, glad your all ok though. I know what you mean about up front money, the mobility scheme is a great idea, but often it seems to forget that those needing mobility generally have a large heavy luggage item that won't fit into most car boots! My neighbour has Muscular...

1998 T2 breaking in New Forest

But that's how you get the sale price pushed downwards!! :naughty

    Veg oil ???

Yep, veg has a higher, yep read it carefully, higher cetane value than diesel so should if anything give more power. It is thicker so increases the likelihood of the pump to suck in air through the fuel line joints etc. and flow slower through main fuel filter and/or the banjo bolt mini filter...

1998 T2 breaking in New Forest

:doh - For the cost of a few fingers worth of grease! Has to be said, that expression could indeed cost quite a bit in some places! :naughty

    Air conditioning

I guess I'll have to have another look one day, but my TD is earlier than the TDi's (isn't yours an odd late TD Mel?) and the Mistral's always had extra stuff before the UK spec machines. Last time I sat upside down in the passenger seat with the glove box completely removed, there was nothing...

    Finally got some welding done

don't fear cnc, that was taken after the inital tack welds were done, mate's an ex mot tester and I give his kids a lift in the truck sometimes so it's well and truly seam welded.

Remember what happened to 'toby' when he started 'upgrading' that!

    Veg oil ???

The tax is road fund duty - used to be you had to pay for every litre you used, but HMRC decided to grant individuals the right to have 2500l a rolling year road fund free as they spent more money collecting the tax than they got. As part of that they stipulated that you should keep a record of...

    Veg oil ???

Totally agree, but I keep a log anyway just in case - it's a bit sketchy and often made up as I pump from a barrel with no accurate measure into the tank. We're supposed to keep a log by HMRC rules, but as you say, I don't think they'll ever ask for it and it's as pointless as can be. However, I...

    Finally got some welding done

Still got to have another sesh getting the sills patched up (and therefore probably the inner sills too) before MoT time and then I must pay attention to the clutch/gearbox issues. Not keen on letting her die yet. Forgot to mention that I squirted Bilt Hamber cavity wax in all sorts of personal...

    just wont start

Aye, but is it stopping when it shouldn't? also is it getting the signal to let fuel flow when it should? Silly thought, but have you checked the mini filter area of the banjo? could you have managed to knock some crap lose somewhere that's now blocking fuel getting into the pump?

    Finally got some welding done

Aye, that's why I thought I'd grab a few pics, its a sod of a job to do as there's more rusty than anything else left to weld onto. Best method is to make a card template up forthe steel and cut/bend a section to fit in with a hole big enough to get your 17mm socket through for the bumper...

    Finally got some welding done

Sporting the new red wing look of the now non rusty set of wings that I got from Ryan AGES ago. Will need to do a paint job of these, but now I've got probably 50% more wing than before!

    Finally got some welding done

Had to fit a foot long plate on the top of the passenger inner wing, under the fuel pump and washer bottle, didn't get pics of that, and then last night stuck it all back together - and it still starts! Ready to glug some more veggie.

    Finally got some welding done

Strangely with all that rot,the front radiator support is fine, just a wee touch surface rust to clean up

    Finally got some welding done

Finished seam welding that in and seam sealed the bejesus out of it! Also had gaping holes behind the indicator area on both sides, got those plated over and seam sealed too.

    Finally got some welding done

Other side was fine when cleaned up, but the front cross member that the bumper fitted to was completely rotten at the sides - wish I'd seen Ryan's posting flogging his! Didn't get a photo of all Steven's great welding work on that, sorry Zips. Got a plate made up and securely connected now.

    Finally got some welding done

Bit of a weekend of it, thanks to my mate Steven who probably did 95% of the welding work, the front end of my truck has now got a bit of structural integrity! Didn't get a load of photo's but grabbed a couple. Driver side front body mount was particularly bad, base plate was totally snapped off!

    Air conditioning

Cheers for the comments guys, I'll leave it for now and if Scotland ever gets another summer, I'll look at getting it done right. BTW, while the TDi's have the pollen filter, the TD's don't seem to have, I had the glove box out and there's not one there.
