Hello all
Has anybody maintained their air conditioning on a Mistral.
As i don't know where the filter is and whether to clean it or buy a new one, etc.
It's some thing I've never done before and I've misplaced my CD.
Your comments will be much appreciated.

what cd ? ...... workshop manual is available on here under quick links / downloads if that's what you mean .

My Mk1 has aircon pipes, etc., and a nice little button the glows blue when I press it, but it doesn't nowt to the quality of the air! Strangely, there is NO pollen filter on my aircon either.

I'd quite like to fix it to help with demisting as much as anything else, so I guess a regas is first port of call, but being a tight wad I like the idea of doing it myself. There seems to be a couple of points on the pipework that have valves in them, anyone know where I'm supposed to gas it from?

Sorry for the thread hijack!

nice idea to do it yourself, but not really practical, first you need Automotive connectors, and a gauge and hose set, you need to be able to monitor the pressures in the system, if it is empty of gas then it will have a leak no matter how small, this will have allowed air into the system which will contain moisture, if you simply fill with gas there just could be enough moisture to form an ice plug, if that happens then probably say goodbye to your compressor, to get round this it needs vaccing down to a very low level to boil the moisture out, getting the picture, yes I know a mate up the road just stuck some gas in and all was well but it is a risk, and my Tdi has a pollen filter it is behind the glove box, remove it for access, Rick

Thanks for all your reply's . They were very helpfull.

Halfords sell a pressure gauge/filler & cans of gas. The valve nearest to the rear of the engine is the one to use. Had a go at mine but it was crash damaged (before I bought it honest) so u/s. Decided to open the window instead LOL.
Have used the refill system on my astra with sucess, but in your particular case it would be no dearer (& probably better) to get it done properly by a profesional.

Paly, on re reading my post it seems a bit curt, honestly it was not meant to be, I am not that sort of guy, I was just trying to give the correct information, regards Rick

Its against EEC rules.

Pretty sure the EEC has stopped anyone doing it themselves - the're a bunch of banana straighteners when it comes to DIY.

I concur. There are Re-gas kits available on the tinternet. But i would have it done professionally. And the pollen filter is defo behind the glove box on the TDi.

Cheers for the comments guys, I'll leave it for now and if Scotland ever gets another summer, I'll look at getting it done right.

BTW, while the TDi's have the pollen filter, the TD's don't seem to have, I had the glove box out and there's not one there.

That is odd, I have three Tdi's all have the filter, also have three 2.4 petrols these have the filter as well although two do not have AC, so find it hard to see Nissan not fitting on the TD as essentially all the heater systems are the same, you sure you are not missing it, it is a vertical plastic cover about 25 mm wide with a screw in the bottom, remove the screw and slide it down to reveal the filter, Rick

my td does (no aircon), its behind glovebox...or it was its now in a cupboard/s along with the rest of the vehicle :augie

I guess I'll have to have another look one day, but my TD is earlier than the TDi's (isn't yours an odd late TD Mel?) and the Mistral's always had extra stuff before the UK spec machines.

Last time I sat upside down in the passenger seat with the glove box completely removed, there was nothing that looked a bit like a pollen filter up there.
