    Welder

It won't work off a genny - I tried with a slightly lower range arc kit some time back, with a 2.5 kVA genny - it stalled every strike, due to the surge! Do you have one of those old-fashioned cooker point boxes on the kitchen wall, equipped with a socket? Taht's your starting point - then...

    Windscreen Washer - AAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried. I really, really tried, today...but I failed dismally to access the windscreen washer bottle (under the wing) today, as the various fixings were either snapping or just spinning; what the hell were the Nissan Nutters thinking of, tucking the bloody bottle & pump under there??? :doh...

    2.7 Maverick...hesitates?

Yerst, Plank - yer a nosey b*gger!!! :lol I knew why the scoop was on there - somewhat obvious, when you lift the bonnet and the intercooler matrix is right there in yer face, eh? I just thought you wanted to clarify which Mav I had for a technicackle reason, like it might have a...

    2.7 Maverick...hesitates?

Cheers, guys! Kamsin - it was dry on the run, and cruised between 65-73 all the way... The hesitation was like a very quick 'pulse' that felt like it'd cut out any second - but it carried on as if nowt had happened (except stalled my own pulse rate!). It did it too often over the journey for...

    2.7 Maverick...hesitates?

Just had our Maverick up from Ipswich to Redditch & back today - a nerve-wracking 350-mile run for me, given its initial hiccups & lack of reliability, back when we bought it! Having given it a good run to Harlow & back (about 145 miles round-trip) last Saturday & cleared an airlock in...

    Autolock Hubs - I Wonder...

Aha! Thanks for that, couldn't figure out how the buggers worked, that's all! I had a vague idea that they worked like a one-way starter-type 'clutch' as used in motorcycle engines; maybe, maybe not... Mystery cleared, thanks very muchly!!!

    Autolock Hubs - I Wonder...

...If anyone can explain how these widgets stay locked in, if you reverse in 4WD on slippery ground? I ask, as the little sticker on the sun visor says "to disengage hubs, engage 2WD, then reverse a short distance" (something like that, anyway)... So hwo do the hubs stay locked if you're...

    has anyone experienced this ?

Funny that this topic came up - I did exactly the same strip-down/clean-up on mine, after squirting the coil spring with white spray grease & suffering intermittent reving like you...only, the pics I took, I lost, when my mem-card failed!!! Grrrr! The solvent from the spray grease seeped into...

    Dale Farm...

Liam, it isn't about some of them being Irish - we all know a few really nice Irish folks where we all live; we work with them, sometimes drink with them - we all know that the vast majority of ordinary Irish folks are hard-working, decent folks (like the majority of us cosmopolitanly-blooded...

"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" - Wot's This?

Ah! So it just needs a clout with a doofangle tapper, and a wipe with my wife's best dishcloth, then? Good-oh! I'll sort that, this weekend... Cheers, M'dears! ;-)

    Dale Farm...

There's another ex-Pikey Park alongside the A130, on the northbound-side half-way from the Southend Arterial (A127) & the A12 (near Exchange Bridge, I think it is) - that was full to bursting point with caravans at one point, and got cleared miraculously on just one day, a couple of years back...

"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" - Wot's This?

...And another quizzical query for you Most Knowledgeable Ones... Driving along in my Maverick yesterday, I smelled burning oil; first instinct was to b*ll*ck the driver in front for having a crap engine...but when I stopped & checked under the bonnet, I found oil 'mist' creeping down the front...

    Auto free wheel hubs

I have to admit I'm puzzled, here, with this reversing malarkey... If you're off-road (or on slippy stuff) and need to reverse out of a rut, it seems to me an impossible task, if the autohubs disengage on reversing!?!? That must be a daft idea on a 4WD???

    Gearbox Drain Plug...

Yes, I know & understand that - but I didn't have the time to go buy a blowy or source a new plug, and the more I used the motor, the more I feared that the gearbox was going to go "crunch" any minute from what I had suspected was lack of oil, so I chose the long-winded but gentler approach...

Maverick By Name, Maverick By Nature...

Oho! I'll have a look tomorrow at that, then - though I can't actually hear the pump running, so it might not be that... I've already found this forum to be well worth the tenner's subs, so I'm well-chuffed with my 'investment'! Thanks, guys!:thumbs

Maverick By Name, Maverick By Nature...

Jeepers! When I took my Maverick in on the p/x deal on my MR2, little did I know what I was letting myself in for... First trip out, battery died, rusty exhaust gassed me out then broke off; died on me, half mile from home...: New Battery, new zorst - £210 to you, squire! Next, it starts...

    Gearbox Drain Plug...

Finally got around to changing the gearbox oil, today; started to undo the plug, thought I'd better see if the fill/level plug would come out - ee-arr! No bloody chance! Feels like it's welded in - even tried a 2ft-long, 1/2"-drive knuckle bar with a short piece of pipe over that - still no...

    Maverick Front Shock Absorbers...

Oops! A few problems, then, Kwondo? Hate to tease you, mate, but mine came out very easily, despite the top studs being quite rusty. Lucky, I suppose...:nenau Cheers for all the advice here, folks! Job Done! :thumbs
