...And another quizzical query for you Most Knowledgeable Ones...

Driving along in my Maverick yesterday, I smelled burning oil; first instinct was to b*ll*ck the driver in front for having a crap engine...but when I stopped & checked under the bonnet, I found oil 'mist' creeping down the front of the exhaust manifold from a "widget"..."doohickey"..."gangle-valve"... thingy atop the casting; can't seem to identify it from the '.pdf' manual I snaffled from here a while ago...

Have any of you Wise Ones any idea what the 'device' is, and if it can be fixed/re-sealed, etc? Is this the infamous EGR valve?

(Pic below...Offending/leaky item is the top-hatted vertical cylinder, just off-centre to right; note the oily damp patch running down from its left side...)

That's your oil blow by thing mate. There's a filter in there I think. It's to do with taking oil puffed out the engine and sticking it back in the bloody intercooler :doh
Bin It :thumbs

there is a valve in there, pop the lid and clean it (in the top hat thingy)

yeah, its probably just full or cruddy oil wotsits, mine just does what yours does, minus the smell....

Ah! So it just needs a clout with a doofangle tapper, and a wipe with my wife's best dishcloth, then? Good-oh! I'll sort that, this weekend...

Cheers, M'dears! ;-)
