in earlier posts ,i posted about having probs with accelerator sticking and revving on its own and also the rev counter intermittent , well from advise from goodfellas on here ,i took out the pedal assembly today and cleaned on inspection it seems there is a damper at the left hand of the assemblyy so when the pedal is depressed the return of it is dampened a little so i assume thats so theres no direct return ,on stripping this three screws and one bolt washer, two discs and a spring washer i discovered that if i cleaned it applied a little film of grease to the contact surfaces and reassembled but not as tight .,the pedal has a smoother operation to it and no stickiness, ut back in car and hey presto no problems i had previous and also rev counter working permanently , i think ive sorted it so i post this incase anyones having the same roblem/symptoms something to check before buying a new sensor i would say

thats fantastic nice one!! I'm going to follow this guide, and do mine at the weekend!

the washer is wave washer ,never seen one meself b4 i had to look it up on internet well worth 1hour just to see if it cures any pedal associated problems b4 assuming sensors etc

Funny that this topic came up - I did exactly the same strip-down/clean-up on mine, after squirting the coil spring with white spray grease & suffering intermittent reving like you...only, the pics I took, I lost, when my mem-card failed!!! Grrrr!

The solvent from the spray grease seeped into the damper, and did all sorts of odd things; one second I had revs, the next, tickover...then vice-versa...

Stripped it, cleaned it - job done!

Moral of story: Don't Use Spray Grease (Liberally)!!!
