    Engine rebuild and power mods

No problem Rick. I explained the max lift wrong :doh as the valve is never fully open at tdc, its normally between 100 and 120 degrees after tdc otherwise the valves would hit the pistons.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Ive got my engine at work with no head on it so ill get the dial gauge out at work tommorow and find out the standard td27 cam specs so we can compare it to your altered profile and see if any adjusment is needed for it :thumbs.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Hi Rick, There isnt a vernier adjustment on the td27 but altering the profile will alter lift and duration so at tdc the inlet valve will not be at maximum lift. One tooth out generally will not do much harm it will just run like a bag of spanners. You compensate for the lack of a vernier like...

Pump timing wont matter if cam timings out. Does it feel flat when you drive it?

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Im just thinking, after you had the cam re-profiled did newman send you a data sheet to set up the cam timing correctly? As it may be different from the original factory timing and will need dialling in properly with a dial gauge. The overlap is the time that the inlet and exhaust valves are...

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Might sound a bit daft Pete but how sure on the profile of that cam were you? I mean what was the overlap like? Its not just blowing all the boost down the exhaust is it giving you the chirrup sound.

    Spill valve module?

Doesnt sound like a good mechanic in all fairness, Maybe speak to someone who has a bit more understanding of diesels. The full pump has to come out you can just take the ecu off the pump in situ.

    Spill valve module?

Not sure on price it all depends on what it needs, It doesnt need to go abroad plenty of places in the UK and cheaper.

    Spill valve module?

Glad to help :) Ill ask the question tommorow at work if we might be able to help.

    Spill valve module?

The spill valve is part of the pump and is controlled by the ecu on top, That service is for testing the ecu only so you want someone who can run the pump up on a test bed and not just plug in the ecu. Give these guys a ring http://www.ribblevalleydiesels.co.uk tell them its a vp44 from a...

    Spill valve module?

Sorry for all the pics lol but I believe the workshop downloads are still down so I posted the relevant section. The spill valve controls the fuel injection amount I would suggest cracking an injector and cranking to see if there is any amount of diesel getting up there at all. If there is a...

    Spill valve module?

Right ive done some digging and thats an ecutalk code. Take a look at these they may be of help :).

    Spill valve module?

What have they used to read the codes? They should have a p code (example P1234) that looks like a cheap generic reader to me.

    "Death of the Diesel"

Out of all those I will miss the volvo D5 the most, That 5 cylinder was just an immense engine so smooth and went like the clappers with bags of torque. On the plus side I have recently noticed that we are busier than ever and more people are choosing to repair there cars than throw them away, I...

    Spill valve module?

Nothing in the world of the motor trade suprises me anymore, Ive recently had a customer bring me an engine that had been fully reconditioned and when he installed it the bottom end was knocking, After i removed the sump and pulled the big end caps it was obvious no3 big end only had half a...
