Yes as far as I can tell but lots of other stuff to remove to get at it, but that would have to be done anyway to get the pump out, Rick

OK when I first saw the post about the cheap repair (MOSFET Transistor replacement) I thought it was a very lucky find, but now I know different, it seems this pump is renowned for this particular failure on a very big scale, plus to a lesser extent there are issues with poorly de burred high pressure plunger machining which leads to complete pump failure, (this is mainly prior 2000 pumps) I will be sourcing a complete pump ECU as a hands on spare for my wife's 3, cheap at around £40, they can be had UNLOCKED so the car ECU will talk to it, Rick

Smoking

I fixed my boss's inverter for his solar, It was a common issue for them which was documented online. Burnt out relays If I recall correctly.

If the fault could easily be seen (burnt out, swollen capacitors etc), If the part that's damaged is obvious I have to skills to replace it, but not the skills to troubleshoot what the problem part is if no signs of damage.

Reminds me of my early workshop experience, working on the old Wessex 1 autopilot (Valves, 275 v DC, large transformers, big capacitors etc). If the Amplifier stated to smoke during testing (we all did in those days), the policy was to leave the power on. Once the components burnt out they were easy to spot:naughty, if you switched power off the component would have failed but not be identifiable :lol. Note this was not official policy!

in my old caravan i made it to use off grid,450w solar panels 3 110v batts so i had a 3k inverter as well.worked a treat untill one day several years later i had used inverter tor kettle and toaster,not unusual.i went outside had my breakfast and then went to make another cuppa,i noticed an unusual smell,not toast smell,i pulled bed up to see the inverter was smoking badly.switched it off and pulled it out then took casing off to find on one side the power ic had all almost caught fire. on inspection i found that the main power lead to that side was not done up tight like other side.
i replaced with new inverter as old one was beyond a repair but i think it was like that from new but it took a lot of use to give out.
if i had took it apart i would not have seen what was wrong but once it went wrong it was clear to sea.

Bumping this back to the top so Rick can find it easily as he's struggling with Mags ZD30 at the moment.

Helped him remotely to read out the fault codes from the truck earlier with the bridging trick on Pin's 1 & 8 which gave us the following;

• 0707 - Injection Pump - Injection Timing Control
• 0703 - Injection Pump - Communication Line
• 0403 - Throttle Position Sensor

Rick I'm sure you're no dafty and I'm certain you'll check all the easiest and cheapest bits first before you start ripping the ECU open on your pump. I'd probably start with an inspect and clean of the pump connections and wiring back up into the engine bay into the engine harness. Once you've confirmed all is good in that respect, clear the codes again and let mags run it around.

As I've mentioned, I suspect your TPS code is possibly a red herring based on your other 2 codes but there's always a possibility that you have problems with it. Let me know if you need a new TPS, I've got 4 or 5 pedal assemblies in storage, pretty sure they 2.7 and 3.0 are the same from memory.
