theres always ramsden lane out of holmfirth, pity snow roads on wood head downgraded
but could loop via hope valley for classics of pindale, leeside, houndkirk.

some ucr/orpa's around holmfirth/crowedge, a boat at deepcar golf course. 'pends
if thats too south/east?

im easy as long as my nicely repaired truck doesnt get dirty :lol:lol

now you are talking adventure, which route? gonna brag and say done all 3
car ferry routes, but not the hovercraft or jet funnel type. now they sound
superb motors in those. think soton to cowes at longest is best with chance
to see liners..

Bog standard ferry route Im afraid :D

I did do the cross channel hovercraft when I went on a school trip when I was 11 though. Bit rough on the return trip I thought it was fantastic :thumb2

wow, yep done the dover calais hovercraft, back when you could do french shopper
trips without passport.

was a schooltrip, midnight train from sheffield, to st pancras, wait for tube to open then
over to charring cross i think, train to dover, br provided bus transfer to hovercraft.

about 4 hours in calais then reverse, about 24 hours in total. flick knives etc being
confiscated on train home! by teachers.

recall the HC being noisey, quite rough crossing view consisted of spray, think saw
one being broken up near pompy, maybe gosport few years ago.

cheeky sod :D

couldnt tell you which model it was but it looked and sounded a big noisy bugger to me , and the 54 seater coach fit inside it easily.

It was 1974 first year at secondary school.

The outwards crossing was pretty straightforward but the return was a hoot. The weather was quite rough and at the point where they debated calling off the flight. However they went ahead.

Apparently in rough weather the craft almost skims across the peaks like when you throw a flat stone and make it bounce.

You cant half feel those bounces in it. Being one of the decent travellers some of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip , others were a bit green :D:D:D:D

Its a shame it closed down. I suppose it was a bit like concorde, a one off feat of superb engineering where they never bothered following up or keeping up the pace :nenau
