I've been out today waxing inside my chassis and sills and it occurred to me that all the Jap import cars I've owned in the past were devoid of underseal.
My safari has been undersealed all underneath the bodyshell and on the chassis and I can't find anything more significant that surface rust on the edges of a few places.

It looks like a very good job has been done and although not recent, the only place underseal was missing was the outer chassis rails under the rear wheel arches which I think is due to someone steaming them off there. I also noticed that inside the frame of the bonnet has been done with a wax.

I think the main clue to it not being factory is that there is quite a bit of underseal overspray on the transfer box and I can't imagine the factory doing that though I might be wrong.

Anyway my drive now has several more patches on it from wax spilling out of the insides of the chassis and sills. but it's worth it for peace of mind.

Think they don't put salt on the roads in japan etc like we do.

No, I've had to protect all the Skylines and the Stagea that I had, and since my Patrol isn't a UK model I'm guessing that would have been the same. Anyway it just goes with all the evidence that shows someone looked after my motor well in it's early life.
