Happy new year everyone.

My Terrano had an indicator light on the instrument panel which operated when the flashers on the caravan was working correctly. My X Trail has no indicator or buzzer to show flashers are working on the caravan. No mention in the hand book either. Any one any suggestions, I thought it was a legal requirement.

I'm sure it is a legal requirement for there to be a buzzer sound when the indicators are used when hooked up to a trailer or caravan!!
Certainly has on my T2 and any other car i have owned with a tow bar!!

mines aftermarket and theres a tiny green led tucked away in corner dash down by gearlevers to say towing socket connected i gues so long as somethings fitted its legal!

It is a legal requirement. I found the buzzer very annoying and the kids certainly did being closer than I was, so I disconnected it and that was 5 years ago.
If it was an after market kit fitted to your car then the fitter should have fitted the warning for you. I would have expected the genuine kit to have something as well.
I just check mine each time I hitch up and have had no problems.

The towing kit was dealer fitted I will call them tomorrow to check situation

Just a thought there may be a warning LED but it has been tucked up near the fuse box as thats where I relocated mine as it was really getting on my nerves when driving in the dark

Hi its fingers,

My 06 x-Trail as got a buzzer on it fitted by Nissan,

Happy new year to you all

spoke to a couple of people today, both have said that the new thinking suggests that you only need to indicate system failure so if trailer plugged in and you get a bulb failure then the lights flash rapidly
