Has anyone else upgraded yet?

Glad I backed my laptop up before I upgraded. It's terrible, I'll get used to the OS but I've gone from having a reasonable laptop to a really slow piece of junk! :nenau:nenau:nenau

Hasn't even transferred my favourites, ok lost my cached credentials but not too much of a problem just an inconvenience. It's the loss of speed that has got to me. Ran pretty reasonably on Windows 7 with it's 6gb of ram.

Looks like I'm going to be busy this weekend doesn't it.

I've upgraded both of mine (desktop & laptop), can't say I've noticed any reduction in speed, in fact slightly the opposite. Time will tell!

I'd say that start up and shut down are much faster.
The only thing that wound me up was that everything is preset towards Microsoft, click any links and Edge would open up instead of my preferred Firefox.

i downloaded the iso files as have a few to do.
a hp desk top 350 pro i got of off banshee with win 8,so upgraded it to 8.1 then installed 10.
good so far.
next an old advent 9117 thats years old with vista but i put 7 home premium on it a few years ago.now its on 10 and all good.
then i have a new hp 15 with 8.1 on it and put 10 on that.iam still using trusted advent as work horse so not really played with hp 15 much.
all went well, advent failed once but i tried again.
i had already upped the ram to 2gb and a 500gb hard drive for 7 and its a2 core 1.46ghz so cant do more for it.
the hp 15 has quad 2.1ghz 1tb hard drive and 4gb ram.
nothing lost everything works as it should.
as for speed advent about same hp a little slower i think.
350 pro fast and even got wireless printer working for the first time on 350.
takes a while to do one though.but for free happy.

Mine upgraded to 10 last night, seemed a little slow until I rebooted it, now it seems OK
Everything new seems pretty intuitive so far, time will tell

What is the iso trick, I have a laptop to do?

I upgraded , my speed seems slower too ( had 8.1 before ) , but what really upsets me is I cant now play you tube videos , and also I have no sound

Ah. I remember my daughter had trouble with you tube vids not playing a couple of weeks back. Something to do with explorer not working with it anymore. Installed opera and its fine again.

on the reserve 10 window, right hand corner, open it and look at the top right hand corner of the box that has opened, click on the line that takes you to the windows 10 page.
i think its just below where you do not have to do anything at the moment, well it also says if you cant wait and you are a savy it type click on the link and that will take you to the download area.
chose 32 bit or 64 bit to suite your item you want to put 10 on and click the download link.find where your machine saves downloads click on the item and it will download the iso file which needs to be burnt to dvd.
i did all the variants and labelled them as i burnt them to disk.
you get the option to put it on usb or dvd.

well ive had enough , ive found a way to go back to windows 8.1 ....... everything is fine now :D

Nice one Pete:thumbs

Im thinking about downloading an iso of my version of windows 10 and then tey a complete fresh install and see how it runs then.

fresh install will need your original install key, make sure you have it.using iso to upgrade you do not need it.

Would not install.

When the windows self test started before I could upgrade Win 7 Pro to Win 10 it said my graphics card was not good compatible - NVIDIA GeForce 7650GS so I gave up.

Probably for the best !

I totally forgot I sold you that :lol

I'm gonna grab the ISO's and build a new disk, that way I can just switch back to my solid 8.1 platform should I think it's garbage

I'm changing my tune. Trying to edit some photos today and it's painfully cumbersome and ridiculously slow.
Grrr!

I have reserved a copy, but not yet had any info about supply. I am actually one of the rare species that has no problem with 8.1, as it seems to do everything I ask of it, and I can navigate around it and IE, without hassle.
I think I may just stick to it for the moment, and hold off on any upgrade.
There seem to be too many bugs this early on, and I seek as simple a life as possible.

I have a desktop running XP and a laptop running 7. I really would like to change the desktop, but I REALLY don't want another Microsh!t product. Since the early 95, 98 products it is just revamp for revamp sake (actually it's revamp for incomes sake).

We are all victims of a market dominant manufacturer, who isn't really bothered about quality any more as they know the vast majority of consumers without I.T. expertise will have to use their product.

In an ideal world people need to switch to independant operating systems which would encourage Microshaft to produce a better quality product.

There are similar operating systems out there that can boot up into a stable platform in less than 60 seconds, but because they are not mainstream they don't have add on packages (photoshop, games etc) made for them they are unlikely to gain much ground.

I'm not sure there is an answer.

:(

Enjaybee you are talking a lot of sense there. Pity the other operating systems are not supported by other software or hardware for that matter.

I really did expect 10 to be better than this though. This afternoon i tried searching for an iso of my version of 10 so that I could try a clean install but lost the will to live trying. Doesn't help that I already have headache which has made my whole day a complete waste.
