Sorry to ask but where do I connect the "on" wire?
I can do the feed via a relay bit but where do I connect the other wire that takes a signal from main beam?
Download doesn't tell me and when I did it in the past it randomly stayed on, even with just sidelights on. (Don't ask )

While you are there, what sized fuse for 126Watt led light bar?

What year Maverick is it?
The reason I ask, is that when on side lights only, with ignition on, my headlights are both dim as they are wired in series, so it is important which side to go for for the full beam signal.

Later Mavericks and Terranos don't have this feature.

For 126 watts, use the formula Watts = Volts x Amps
Rearrange,
Amps = Watts divided by Volts, so 126 divided by 12 is just over 10, so 10 amps, but this is the running current, so fuse at 15 amps should be ok, BUT the cabling needs to be much greater than the fues rating, so I would be using cable that can carry 25 amps

If they were standard halogen bulbs, I would be fusing 126 watts with a 20 amp fuse, due to the initial inrush current, due to the filiaments being cold.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Rustic

Thanks for the reply, it has helped.
It's a 94 swb Terrano, I need to update my profile. The old one I had issues with it working on sidelights was actually the same model but a different car.

on my mk2 twin round light model.

pretty sure was nearside headlamp, then looking at spades on bulb right hand as look at
bulb from engine, there was left vertical, top horizontal and right vertical,

but was about 8 years ago if take plug off use multimeter.

this was for bumper mounted, suppose for light bar,if roof, could find on stalk.

I want it as an option with main beam but with a separate off switch.
It is on the bull bar, not the roof. Not sure why you would put one on the roof as they are so bright all you will see is the glare on the bonnet.

Will go with the nearside headlamp then. Seem to recall I used the offside last time. Guess I have a 50:50 chance. :D

Mine is also a '94, and the spots were fitted when I bought it, and someone has done a pretty good job of fitting them.
They work the way you would like, i.e. only when main beam is on, and there is a switch to the left of the steering column to disable them. This switch is alonside the front foglights switch and both look original. If you don't have these switches (and you don't have the factory-fit foglamps) there should be a couple of blanking plates where these switches would go. You could probably get what you need from cncfabs.
The wiring is pretty straightforward, with the (fused) relay live feed taken from the main beam connection behind the drivers side headlight through the switch, and the relay contacts connections direct from the battery+ to the lamps.
Hope this helps.

Drivers side it is then. :D
If I make the wire long enough I can swap it if it doesn't work.

I do have the switches as you describe already. :thumbs
Can't figure out how to make the switch light up though. I have found the two wires that switch on/off though.

A bit odd to have 6 wires out of a straightforward on/off switch.

On mine the switch doesn't light up either, so there is no way of knowing whether the spots (or fogs) are on or off other than by the position of the switch, also I've never removed the switch, so I don't know how many connections there are to it but see no reason why there should be any more that two, after all, it's just a simple single pole switch.

When I wired in my bumper roof spots I took the feed from the O/S head light & ran either the feed or power wire (can't remember which now) to a switch on the dash so the roof lights could be switched on or off when I used main beam:thumb2

good point. I didn't realise there would be so much glare:)
I may make some beam directors.
basically like a horses eye blinkers to fit under the spots:D

Never had any glare probs with my roof light ok the wiper blade were very slightly lit up & the washers looked a bit funky when used in the dark:lol

I have a cunning plan to solve any glare problems:naughty
probably a universal fit:nenau

I will draw some plans tomoz. try a temp fit and make millions with my idea

Steve you can see how far forwards mine were the sun strip blocked tones of light just the wiper blades & scuttle that got a bit of light on them nothing really on the bonnet & that motor always had a high shine on it when not off road oh & the gay steps got ripped off twice that day:lol they were removed a bit later

It was ok for nothing:thumbs started life as steel wiring conduit that came out of a hospital just bolted on some steel strips on the base (can't weld) fitted a removable rear bar & top bar for lights & CB aerial

glad side of car agreed for headlight bulb connections, for me was few years back !

if using isolator switch off this feed wont need tell tale, as dont need switch.

tell tale would only be on lamp classed as work.

going to increase wiring too, from feed to dash switch then back to relay, dont think would
bother for driving lamps, but would for roof as already coming up thru body to get to roof
bar.
