Ok so I tried turning the front windscreen wipers off on my t2 but they won't turn off there on when they should be off , the only way I stop them is pull out the plug on the motor. Any ideas?

The wiper motor has a constant 12 volts so that it can park when you turn the wipers off.

So either the selector switch on the steering column has gone, or the park switch within the motor has stuck on.

I would try the selector switch, and if there is a connection there then disconnect and the wipers should stop.

Hope this helps.
Best regards, Rustic

I'll take the motor off of my other terrano and see if it works :thumbs

check the earth connection going to the plug on the wiper motor... I had a similar fault, wipers not turning off and had to hold the lever in the flick wipe position to get them to work! Spent a fortune on a new motor and switch but yurned out to be the earth as the motor is rubber mounted and does not earth itself through the body to the car.... hope that made sense??

had exactly the same problem with a T2 only last week it was very odd, turned front and rear wipers on and neither would turn off, thought it had to be the switch so had a substitute but no different, only way was to pull the front and rear fuse, (funny thing is it went through MOT like this, with fuses in) wipers were working ok????? anyway sorted it by a deft bang to the relay box below the wiper motor, worked fine after, Rick

I'll give that a try, I've got another relay but it's from a t2 without Variable wipers my t2 has variable wipers, if that doesn't work, I'll try mowerman's idea

Interesting. I've just had the wipers turn to on when they were on intermittent, and they refused to turn off. Moving to fast then off usually turns them off. Rear wiper only sometimes works in the intermittent position so the combination made me assume stalk/switch. Perhaps I need to thump things!

I've found out what it is, it's the relay that sits just under the wiper motor. I replace the relay for a different one, about a month later same problem. I've just took the relay off so the wipers dont have a intermittent setting and thay don't go back to the bottom of the screen. You have to judge when thay reach the bottom of the screen and then turn them off:doh

i have a stalk for sale :augie but check you earths within the engine bay first....thats what was wrong with mine a few weeks ago

I couldn't see where the earths were, but just pulling the big connector apart and cleaning up the contacts seems to have cured it for the moment.
