Got up yesterday morning to fined some drunken t**t had been on the rampage up our street, and among other things thrown a brick at my windscreen.:banghead
I am not covered for glass here so its up to me to pay for it !
Just been up to the garage and they want 800€ to replace it:eek:
So before I do anything rash, its a long shot, but, is there any one out there with a windscreen for sale, and is there any one coming to Brittany over the Christmas hols who could bring it over for me ?, again its a long shot but worth asking. :nenau

At least it's just the screen and not any awkward bodywork panels etc :bow

Jonela,
I'm with AXA, they cover windscreen automatically, through Carglass here in France. I have to pay a small excess in any repair, but it's bearable. I am surprised your insurance doesn't have this cover......:nenau

Its the same old story a cheaper premium with no glass cover, you think you won't need it ,never had a wind screen go in 35 years of driving ,but it's sod's law:doh

I'm sure some one will be able to supply one, and cost up shipping etc assuming that no one is heading that way.

On the other hand, how far are you from Calais if you had to meet someone?

Also... how difficult is it to remove a screen without cracking it?:augie

Rustic

I wouldn't attempt it I tell you now!!!

Fit a replacement one....:augie
wait a while..
add windscreen cover when insurance next due...
wait a while...
...

Naughty man :sly

No ! not at all...
... did you notice I said fit a new one first though... BEFORE getting new insurance...
Then get the "new" one covered for next time...

Could be a long wait, I have been driving since 1962, one screen busted by local throwing a brick as I drove by.
It is cheaper in the long run not to have cover, but I have.

Ouch:eek: feel for you had some little s**t put a rock through one of the roof windows on my old disco2 luckily his mates dropped him in it so his parents coughed up the cash to cover my excess to have the glass replaced but was shocked that the price of the small window as it would have been £150:eek:

I have a 98 here with a good screen, and did manage to get one out a couple of years ago, but not easy as bonded in so risk of breakage is high, then there is the getting it to you, probably be cheaper to buy one here and get someone to bring it over, would not trust shipping it, Rick

That does seem odd might be the tint or something like that

Mine is registered early 2002, so could be manufactured 2001.
It has a graduated tint across the top of the screen, maybe they available without this?

Hi, Thanks to Glen I have bought the one off e bay and have found some one to bring it over to France for me ,so I am 2/3 of the way there.:clap
Now all I need is a kind member who could pic it up from the vendor in Wisbech Cambridgeshire and drop it off at Pulborough west Sussex.
I will send petrol money by paypal of course :) here's hoping ! John
