I tried. I really, really tried, today...but I failed dismally to access the windscreen washer bottle (under the wing) today, as the various fixings were either snapping or just spinning; what the hell were the Nissan Nutters thinking of, tucking the bloody bottle & pump under there??? :doh

Anyway - I've worked out a "wizard wheeze, what!" - look for a washer bottle/pump that'll just fit nicely on the 'shelf' section on the inner left wing between the air filter and the rear of the left-hand headlight, then divert the wiring & tubing - and gain easy access, in future! :naughty :)

Therefore, has anyone else done likewise? :nenau

If so, any unit recommendations (ie: what bottle out of what car)? I'm only asking, as it may save me the trek through my favourite breakers' yard to check out all the motors...:bow

old minis had a nice bottle, but a bit small by todays standards.

bedford CF vans had a BAG not a bottle

i know, no help...

Yeah, I remember both very well - but sadly, there aren't any left in breakers' yards these days - they've long dissolved into piles of rust powder!

I'll be going past my favourite Suffolk yard sometime this week - I'll pick the old boy's brains...unless someone comes up with a good 'un, here...

Ta, anyway, Zippy!

from memory the landy disco 300tdi was quite box like and good size. could be wrong but worth a look.

Cheers for that, Fridgy - a mate of mine's a Disco' nut, so I'll ask what his has got & blag one! ;)

Anyway - I've worked out a "wizard wheeze, what!"

Wizard wheeze... toppo and bully for you old boy! Did you just watch Jeeves and Wooster on Dave, or something?

Anyway relocating the bottle sounds like a great idea. How difficult will it be to find the supply from the control stalk etc.

Regards

Alan

Almost the same as what I said about mine but mine words were a bit more colourfull!!! I've heard of someone removing the wing to get to it. I simply bought a washer pump fro local motor shop. Found the non return valve below windscreen, short bit of tube and fitted between valve and jets. Still have to locate the feed for it but I fitted a temporary switch in dash and got it through MOT.
I'd love to fit the proper unit but for now I would be happy to connect to correct wires and have the switch back for something else. Being realistic about it is it worth going to too much more trouble thinking about life of the car.

I thought I was gong mad but no - my washer bottle is inside the engine bay - picture below

Washer%20location.jpg

The pump is facing inboard and a doodle to get to. Perhaps this is a left-hooker position or just late model ?? Do you have room for it in the same location ? I will get a better picture tomorrow when it is daylight.

If you have room but it is only an LHD position then let me know - I can go to the scrapper here and try to find one with the mounting bracket. Wouldn't cost too much to ship.

Got a brand new original T2 TDi washer bottle and motors here, paid about £20 for it. Whare aboots in suffik are ya ?

On your doorstep, Redrex, ringing yer doorbell!!!

I'm in Kesgrave - where you? D'yer take cash? ;)

lol.

Live in Harwich, was in ipswich breifly this morning, may be again soon. Send me a pm with your address and phone number and i'll do the same.

TONUP (Alan) - the wiring shouldn't be a problem - it goes through the inner wing somewhere near the pump/bottle, so it's just a matter of checking the wiring diagram to ensure you pull-back (or if need be, cut) the right wires (feed/return), then extend the wires back & across the bulkhead to reach the new location - that'll ensure that it stays with the stalk-switch....

Sparks - that's where I've got a big empty space - exactly where I'm planning to fit the new washer bottle/pump..with a little help from a Redrex...:thumbs

Why on earth didn't Nissan do that in the first place??? "Insclutable Nipponese Rogic...sorry... Logic"...:nenau

Cheers, guys!
