Hello
I am considering fitting a winch to my Terrano preferably without having to do a complete winch bumper job.
Has someone done this on the Terrano.
If so, info and pics would be smashing.
Thanks Dave

the winch is only as strong as what you fix it too,,, so you will need some sort of winch fixing be it a bumper or tray .... but then if you have a tray you might as well go for the bumper then you can have strong jacking and shackle points too

cutting corners will just cost you more in the long run

I successfully fitted a 4 tonne winch to my Trooper without the need to fit a full winch bumper.
I made all the bracket work to the chassis, no problems,
I guess I'll just do it again.
I have done this job before.
But just to add, there will be no corners cut!

this might be of interest to you...

theres a company called Asfir who do 4x4 accessories. TBR UK sell some of there stuff.

anyway, i was just looking on their site and they sell a few bits for terranos: winch bumpers, side protection and hidden winch mounts...link

if you enlarge the picture, you can see that not only does it mount on the normal bumper mounts, but it also mounts underneath the chassis rails (where the pig tails bolt it)

I so want one of those.. 8)
Get so pigged off when I see all the goodies you can get for other 4x4's

I fitted a winch to my Maverick about 6 weeks ago using a TBR winch mount that keeps the standard front bumper. It was the easiest winch mount I have ever fitted. The only thing I buggered up was cutting the bumper, which I will sort before Christmas.

Kev is this the removable winch one from tbr?

Any pics?

Guys, thanks for the replies,
The website links are tops,
The TBR winch bracket looks ideal. http://tbruk.com/index.html?lang=en-uk&target=d937.html
just go to specific vehicle products, nissan , TerranoII there is a great pic of a "tee" style bar.
I'm going to make a bracket very similiar, although mine will be fixed not detachable.

Lee.

Just had a thought, , on the new front page, isn't there a pic of a red Maverick with the standard front bumper and a winch fitted. All you see is the fairlead and hook ?

Yep, there is, just looked. It's a SWB red Mav. Anyone know who's truck it is ?

Lee.

Thats Tommo's - he's posted some pics of it in the last couple of days in another thread on winches.

Any idea how I can find those pics?:nenau
I cant find anything here anymore:doh
About to start my winch bumper but will help to see how the pros do it;)
Cheers

Cheers Lee , it looked good. Would like to spy the actual mounts though.
Trying to do a version of it now.:naughty

Here are my pics, finally have it fitted and working!

The finished bracket

The winch had to be mounted to the bracket, before fitment to car.

Had to use my jack to lift it in place, the Bracket is bolted to chassis, sandwiched between the A bar bracket.
Re drilled and tapped out holes to M14, M12 fine thread didn't seem man enough.
Real b****r to position and bolt on my own.

Finished the mechanical side last sunday.
Haven't needed to butcher the bumper, approach angle has been slightly effected, although the A bar had already effected the approach angle anyway.
