Quick video to show how much & colour of the smoke that I have on first start up of the day.
Just looking for confirmation that there's nothing to worry about.
Only smokes on first start up, no smoke on revving after this first billowing, nothing when out running.
That's my Twitter too if anyone wants to follow the ranty, angsty shite that I spew forth into the ether. :thumbs

Have you recently changed your fuel filter?
White smoke on start up is often associated with air in the fuel lines, so either seal at filter face, or fuel lines are corroded letting air in.

you almost certainly have one or more glow plugs down, the "smoke" being unburnt fuel vapor, is it taking longer to start than before? this is another symptom of plug failure, most 2.7's should start after a couple of revolutions ie almost instantly, Rick

It's not the quickest of starter, but it doesn't really struggle either- I put that down to a 540CCA battery.
The fuel filter was changed at the beginning of the summer, but I have added an in-line filter too.
Cheers for the info so far chaps. :)

easy to test your plugs, do it now before the winter bites, remove the inter-cooler and the link connections from the glow plugs and test them with an ohm meter, should read very low ohms, if you do not have a meter, then crude but effective, connect a wire to the battery positive, fine stranded wire is ideal, on the free end separate the strands and wind say 3 together (on the average household flex this will give a fuse of about 15 amps) now touch this to a glow plug top terminal, it should "blow" if it does not then that plug is duff, Rick

I had a little play today and started to remove the intercooler.
Question: Are the hoses reuseable or replacement parts?

yes put em back on again unless they are damaged, Rick
The point being they seem very tight, much tighter than I expected and I can see the force required to remove them would result in damage. I'm trying to work out if this is normal or not.
I'm pricing up some spares just in case and have a couple of days rest as the rain is coming.
Cheers Rick.

they sometimes get stuck just like rad hoses ease a small screwdriver in the end of the hose and ease it round the ali tube they will come off easy enough, Rick
