where is my egr valve

Hi All, i have excessive black smoke from my 97 , 2.7 swb terrano 2 with inter cooler, i have looked on the dowloads and i bought the manual on cd but i can't seem to find the egr valve, can someone please help me find the elusive beast, cheers guys and gals

take a look hear m8y page 12 http://bebrs.pie-dabas.net/Webs/Terrano/R20/ec.pdf looks like its under the intercooler but not sure if it is the right one if not someone on the forum will definitely know hope this helps

Not all TDI's Have EGR valves. So you might not have one.

look on the drivers side where the intercooler joins the inlet manifold if you have what looks like a choke flap mounted in the pipe you will have an erg valve if its just a plain pipe with no linkage on the out side you wont have one. the erg valve is mounted underneath the inlet manifold at the back

Is it possible to put a simplt blanking plate betweeb the egr valve and the inlet manifold?

Mines a petrol but I've got a clamp on the pipe at the moment to see if removing the EGR would make the engine run better, seems better so far. If you haven't got proper pipe clamps, a pair of mole grips with the jaws suitably padded to get rid of the sharp teeth would do.
