wheels and lift questions

Hi all, i am sure this subject is discussed to death, but i just need some confirmation and reassurance before i take the next step.

Today i received my lift spacers from xpajun.com and i was originally going to do that and then put some 30mm wheel spacers on.

But now i am having other thoughts tyre wise...if i lift it 2 inch i take it i can get away with 31x10.5x15 on my current rims without any issues with rubbing?

Any help or advice is appreciated

If your rims are 7" wide you should be fine

I done the spring lift to start with and I had 31 x10.5 x15 on hilux rims which has more of an offset than standard and mine didn't rub but I had to remove the mud flaps and whack the inner wing seal flat

As for xpajun spacers they are very good and easy to fit

I've now for a 4" lift in total

get a set of rear springs first mate, no need for body lift

body lift is a maul and then you have to weld or cut and make brakets for front and rear bumper

I have 31" tyres on stock, but getting a set of rear springs first

Well i have the spacers now...don't mind fixing the bumper brackets etc.

I guess one of my concerns is that it will rub on full lock....

Just done body lift on mine today and have to admit its not that hard a job. I did the LWB springs and torsion bars then decided to do the lift so I've got 4inch total lift on body with 31" wheels

When doing the lift is it easier to chop the old bolts off with a grinder or try and undo them?

On a swb is there 8 bolts?

8 bolts for the SWB I just cut all mine off and used metric bolts a lot cheaper than getting hold of the proper bolts

If you just cut the bolts, you wont get them out at all.

You need the old bolts out to be able to get the new ones in and some are captive (Nut inside the body of the truck).

I took all mine out, needed a 6 foot bar and a wheel brace to do it though.

Hi guys, got a right bargain today, so had to snap it up.

Went to see a guy near where i live that sells a few tyres and he had some Kingpin 31 10.5 15 all terrain tyres for sale, a set of 5 for £150.00.

I have to say they weren't quite the aggressive tread pattern i had in mind but at that price i couldn't say no.

So i have the tyres and the body spacers, now to crack on...

I was looking underneath this evening and noticed that the back 4 bolts go up into the body rather than a nut and bolt like the 4 front ones.
Does this mean that the back 4 are captive nuts?
Will i need to strip the interior to get to them?
Will the bolts i have been supplied with the spacers fit into these captive nuts?

Its okay, panic over....

Just had another look at the kit i got and it has 4 bolts with finer thread that the others supplied with it, so they are obviously for the back 4.

Well my plan is to make a start on monday, i have got some plate to modify the bumper brackets with, the tyres and the lift spacers.

Anything else i will need or need to know?

Have a nice long bar for the rear ones, Can be a pain especially if they don't come out.

Remove front and rear bumpers.

Loosen the bolt on the steering spline joint.

Sorry to go on about this, but i just need to get things straight in my head before i start...what about the fuel filler, i guess that the tank is mounted on the chassis so there is a connection between chassis and body?

Will i need to disconnect it or extend it...?

Nice one, one less thing to worry about i guess...

I am looking forward to cracking on with it, i am even tempted to pop into my local garage and ask if they can put the windy gun on the body bolts to try and break them free before i take them off.

Couple of quick questions;

There appears to be a rubber spacer type thing between the body and chassis, i take it i should leave that in?
Can someone send me a link to how others have modified the bumper mountings?

The back four seem to be undoing quite easy so far, i have just slackened them off for the moment.

leave the rubber in or you won't get the 2" body lift :lol
