Couple of quick questions;

There appears to be a rubber spacer type thing between the body and chassis, i take it i should leave that in?
Can someone send me a link to how others have modified the bumper mountings?

The back four seem to be undoing quite easy so far, i have just slackened them off for the moment.

Not really cos no one thought to take photos.

I did take a couple of mine when i did it, but i have only done the front one. What i did was put the bumper back in after the lift and front the front wheel arch you can see where the bracket will need to be welded to it. Make a 2" x 4" by 1/4" thick piece of bar, drill a hold the same size as the bumper bracket and bot it in place then fit the bumper up to it and weld it together. If you weld it off the truck it may not line up, this way it has too. I will take another photo of mine when i get home so you can see what i mean.

Found it...

You also have to make a new hole for the front bolt as that will also be higher up now.

You can see the bit of steel i used for the back bracket, looks messy, but did the trick.

Morning everyone, just a quick update and a question
The lift is completed, body lifted and spacers fitted, front bumper mounting modified and re-fitted, rear bumper is on the top of the agenda this morning, then wheels off and go get my new tyres fitted.

Just a question, with the radiator/ fan cowl, should I remove it of try and modify it so it can be dropped down the radiator and still fitted?

Cheers
Stephen

just bin it m8

I agree, Terranos dont run that hot, i do know of people that took the fan off and ran with out one as well.(But i dont advise it).

I took mine off and its still sat at the side of the shed, not found any problems.

yeh I binned mine when i did water pump, no need for it

Well i am happy to be able to report the lift is complete...

I just have the spare wheel mount to modify as the 31 tyre doesnt fit, being slightly bigger, so that is the job for tomorrow.

I did remove the fan cover.

I dont seem to be able to undo the transfer lever knob to put the extension piece on.
The front tyres do rub very slightly on the mud flaps, but its only the bit that sticks out under the truck, so i will chop that off as well tomorrow.

I measured before and after and i estimate it has lifted it nearly 3 and a half inches, including the tyres.

As always, thank you very much for all the help and advice, it has been really quite an easy mod.

How did you do the rear bumper, did you cut the bracket and weld it to the top of the chasie like R1cho did?

Well done, looking good.

Interested to hear 31's don't fit the rear carrier!

What actual size is the tyre?

Is it the height or width of tyre that is causing it not to fit?

It's the ht. but also the extra weight of big tyres will muller the back door anyway.
I binned my spare but carry a ruddy great puncture repair spray can . When I'm offroading the spare goes in the back :thumbs

How much does 31's lift the rear axle anyway? Is it only about 1.5 inches more than standard?

Is it more important to widen the track?

Has anyone tried 235/85x16 (Standard Defender size) tyres?

Get your diff out the muck = No.1 job :thumb2
Cant remember what std size tyres are lol

Hi, sorry for no pictures, i totally forgot during the work....

The front bumper bracket we just re-drilled the front mounting hole 2 inch lower, job done...
Rear bumper we cut off some of the excess and mounted it on top of the chassis with a piece of 2 inch angle to re-align the mounting hole.
The mud flap on the rears had to be re-drilled on the chassis to lift it to re-align the bumper with the wheel arch.

What i found with the spare wheel bracket was that the wheel doesn't sit in the middle of the door and is mounted very slightly towards the hinge, so the bracket had to be lifted up about 3 inch and out an inch.

I will post some pics later of the plate i made to accommodate the alterations.

Hi all, just another question regarding the lift...

Since lifting the body two inch, does that mean that the rubber gaiter thing that mates the bonnet scoop and the intercooler now no longer meet and a gap has been created between the two and therefore not making proper use of the bonnet scoop to push cool air through the intercooler?

If this is the case what have others done to correct this?
