Can anybody help please...

I'm looking at getting a second set of wheels tyres for my 2001 Maverick and coz they're fairly rare i'm not seeing any second hand sets coming up on ebay etc. However there are lots for other vehicles especially the disco or range rover.

I know the tyres are the same size as the Land Rover Discovery (235/70/16) but what about the wheel/hub fitting - put simply is the pcd and offset the same on both vehicles?

If it's not are there any other vehicles that you know of whose wheels will fit the Mav?

Cheers folks

Andy

Andy (Camerman) is the resident expert on the later Mavericks, but first off are they 5 or 6 stud? If they are 6 stud almost all Japanese 6 stud wheels will fit so you have a wide varity to choose from, if 5 stud, it could be a very limited choice as I feel they are unlikely to be the same as Landrover.

Have a look HERE as the later Mavs are really Mada, I'm guessing that they might be the same as other 5 stud Mazdas at 114.3mm PCD which would make them the same as free landers, in which case you're in luck there'll be a few wheels knocking around, probably best to get your tape measure out, the above link explains what to measure.

suzukis 5 stud dont know technical spec though maybe plank does he had vitara see some nice wheels on em aswell

Suzuki are 139.7mm 5 stud, might fit you need to measure your to see what they are.

right then - very rough measurement across 2 adjacent studs as per the guide comes to somewhere between 68-70mm (difficult to be more accurate with a kids plastic ruler thats too long! hehe) mutliplied by 1.7012 (as per guide) that gives me a pcd of 115.6 to 119 which is a bit too inaccurate methinks so will have to do a proper measurement over the weekend before going any further.

It will be easier to measure it with the wheel off if you've got chance to do it that way.

ok so maybe i was even more inaccurate than i thought - a google search has brought up a couple of sites quoting the Mav as being 5x114.3 as previously suggested

Have you found the centre bore too, the wheel you're fitting needs to be at least as big or bigger else they won't go on. Ideally they should be the same as this removes some of the vertical loading from the studs/bolts.

I don't know much about technical stuff only know what fits

First off don't forget your on a space saver spare wheel that is tailor fitted into boot floor so if your fitting bigger you will not be able to carry a spare unless inside which will take up most of your luggage space.

When I bought mine I was told they are same wheel pattern as Freelander and same tyres as freelander and Disco. Having never tried them on a freelander I can't comment but the tyre size is the same as my standard disco.

There is another member on here, Ringo who has a similar Mav but his wheel tyre combo is differant its on 15" rims, his is the 2 litre Mondeo engine and manual box - so rare and underpowered, his is the only one I've ever seen. (They were even less popular and discontinued extremely quickly)

maybe mondeo rimms shod with 4x4 tyres?

I suppose its a possibility, there are plenty of them around and in the scrappies, must be cheap too, cos sure they must be same as many other Fords like Sierra etc?

Most old fords are 4 stud, except Granadas and Scorpios. Early Mondeos were 4 stud but they've moved to 5 stud but with the wrong PCD.

Ford Probe wheels appear to be the right PCD (well they were rebadged Mazdas too) as do transit connect.
