Whats this for and what have i done??

Well dispit the cold and as it was quiet,i thought i'd do some small bits to the terrano.First was the dash bulb as some where gone.After reading post's i went for LED ones.But when i was putting them in and trying them out,the first one blew as soon as i turned them on and now i have no dash light nor either of the fog lights work.Ive gone through the fuse's and cant seen any blown so no idea what i done.Other thing was when i was taking the dash surround off i disconted the plug for the alarm but noticed there was another bunch of wire's that someone in the past have put some wire between the wires but ive no idea what there for.

The extra connector with the link, is for the dash light dimmer, if it had one... I think the Mavericks have it. there is another one, which I did work it out, but I have forgotten now.

As far as the lights go, not sure, it must be a fuse somewhere

top tip of the day......................do not use led bulbs they do blow as they cant handle the continuous voltage without a regulator of some kind, as for why the fog lights dont work i have no idea, try replacing the dash bulbs with normal ones, the system may work on a continuous loop, i had an espace and the lights on that worked in a similar way, one dash bulb blown meant the drivers side head light and passenger side rear light didn't work

Well the daughters boyfriend needed a lift home so as the truck was frosted up i let it warm up a bit,but when i was checking something i noticed that the rear lights where not working.Checked the fuse but seemed ok,but as i had spares about i just changed it and now its all working again.It seems the fuse for the tail lights also do the dash lights as well as for the front and rear fogs.Need to get some more dash bulbs as at least 2 are not working but as its been pointed out i think ill stay away from the LEDs and just fit standard ones.As for the connector behind the dash ill look into that more tomorrow and see what's what..............Next job is to deal with surface rust on the front and rear :augie

If the LED bulbs are designed for 12v then the voltage shouldn't be a problem.
Each bulb has a resistor or possible a regulator built in to reduce the voltage to correct level, however LED bulbs are polarity sensitive and need to be connected the correct way round. Usually they are protected against reverse connection but cheap ones may not be although I have never come across it.
Most likely a faulty bulb or you may have crossed the terminals during insertion.
I've used LEDs several times and never had any trouble up until now. (Kiss of death)
