and this (the bottom of the above manual page)...does Box B mean that the rod on the valve actuator should be IN on tickover and pop out again when revved?

CALLING TOOLBOX!!

Jeremy

So, now I know that my 02-plater DOES have an EGR valve, what do I do to take it out of circuit as it were? Is it the old 'ball bearing up the orifice' routine as far as the rubber pipe is concerned or can I just leave it disconnected?

I removed the pipe from the Throttle Actuator Valve last night and took it for a spin, but there seemed to be no difference whatsoever in performance.

So same question for the TAV, can I disconnect that too without problem and do I need to block the pipe as well?

cheers

Paul

Right :augie
Just to throw a spanner in the works :doh

When in Wales,Colin aka extreme-4x4 removed the top hose & it lost power on idle, didn't drive with it off.!

As this thread has progressed,so my cob webs started to blow off me grey cells :nenau :lol

So over the past 3 weeks i have :-

1.Ran on a full tank with top hose removed,no smoke at all with no running differences.
Loss of power only on idle.! :nenau
No difference on mpg.!

2.Ran with both hoses off & slight loss of acceleration with smoke on hard acceleration.! :nenau
Slightly better mpg.! :)

3.Ran & still running with NO EGR,Hose's & all ELECTRICS UNPLUGGED.!
Slight loss of low down grunt.! :(
Faster top end.! :naughty
Slightly better mpg.! :)
No smoke at all.! :)

So my own personal conclusion on my 2.5 TD with no ecu or maf is :-

TAKE THE BLOODY THING OFF & BIN IT.! :sly :D :thumbs

Dont know if this has helped or just defied what is fact.
